Visited the Museum of American Armor today. Focus is on WW2 American Military vehicles and equipment. I was surprised at what they had there, it was muich bigger than I expected. Lots of small arms, non-armored vehicles and weapons in addition to the armor. Some of the armor is functional and they do re-enactments and videos. They even have a small soundstage set up of a European town/main street. All the stuff inside is functional and the stuff outside is non-functional. Impressive place.
Anyways on to the pics. Going full sized and hi-res.
TJT TJT I could be wrong but I thought you mentioned being a treadhead in Iraq. If I am wrong then sorry for the summon.

M18 Hellcat. Open top tank destroyer. Fastest armored vehicle the US had. Ran on an aircraft engine and did 50 mph. Open top though. Fuck that.

M48 Patton. We sold this particular one to the Israelis and they used it in two wars. They swapped out the original 90 for a 105. During the Suez war it took an RPG in the rear and disabled it. Ended up sitting in the desert for 20 years before an American collector bought it.

Where the RPG penetrated and trashed the transmission.

One thing that stood out to me (because I have welders who work for me) is how shitty the welds were on that WW2 armor. I guess thats what you got with women working the factories. All the skilled guys were drafted or enlisted.
