Well this would probably make the Kicks the fourth best team in the NBA?

Such a dumb trade. I think it’s a final F U from Glen Taylor before he sells the team. It’s the only explanation.

Yeah, that seems like such a strange trade and it seems Towns wasn't pushing for it or anything.

It really comes down to KAT's contract. It's a super max contract, and he doesn't play up to the level of the money he's getting. The Wolves will have to give ANT the max, and they can't have three max contracts on the books. With the Wolves being a 2nd apron team it's hard to trade him. It's not like we are going to get anything for Gobert, but Gobert does more for this team. KAT gets injured a lot and after his knee surgery last year do you really want to keep him around with that contract? He's missed more games than Embiid in the last five years. It sucks to see him go, but it is what it is. It's been talked about for awhile on Timberwolves forums that eventually KAT or Gobert were going to have to be traded.

Donte will help us a lot. I guess it's the only reason why the trade went down is because they put him on the table. Naz plays pretty well with Gobert. Naz is a quick decision maker unlike KAT who is a slow one. I'm not sure what they do with Randle. We can definitely use someone with his grit on the team. I'm not sure how they make it all work. We'll see as the first Wolves preseason game is on Friday.

The decision wasn’t just between KAT and Gobert. They could’ve kept both. Their issue was having to give up NAW and Naz if they went that direction. Personally, I’d have kept KAT and traded Reid and Walker. Could’ve gotten a way better haul and retained an extremely unique player in Towns.
