The biggest thing they need to do is shut down the chorus that screams for the game to be anti-WoW, but in doing so, screams down ANY change that even sniffs of WoW.

Yes, it's fine to not be WoW. But people forget that many core MMO improvements were popularized in WoW and are good things. Some things this game needs to do in general

1) Accessibility of content: If people can't access your content on a larger scale, then it may as well not exist. Dungeon and Arena Fight orbs are big standouts here, at least as currently designed. No one wants to grind for hours to craft an orb that is only good for a single dungeon run and their watermark system discourages people from using this valuable resource. Make them buyable for a reasonable amount of faction tokens (and just tokens, no gold) would be my suggestion.

2) Cross Realm / Server Grouping instanced PVP (Outpost Rush): Outpost Rush needs an inter-server matching component. Smaller servers sometimes only see a single OPR a day. Make some coding so that if the # of people queuing on your server is under some number, then it automatically pools you with other lower queue servers to get people into matches

3) Add some type of FF14 style Custom Deliveries/Leve Quest system for crafting - limited usage during a given week/day system where a player can gain a decent amount of crafting or gathering XP for less materials cost than just straight up grinding - acts as a natural catchup mechanic and improves daily login metrics if they care about that

4) Scaling non-instanced content that rewards the boost in difficulty: If they want to boost elite difficulty based on the # of people running the content, then they need to boost the rewards to match. The problem is they have the "less loot drops the more people there are" mechanic running, while at the same time boosting mob difficulty a lot. Reward people for running shit together and reward the takedown of harder enemies by improving loot quantity and quality.

5) Diminishing returns on CC in PVP - why this doesn't exist, I have no clue. It turns every group PVP fight into the "who can stun the most people for the longest". This is especially compounded in wars.
And this is why Ashes will fail, too. They're going down the exact same road, because the guy in charge is one of those people who thinks only the top tier people should be able to participate in the best content. His game will fail because of it.

That is part of it. A lot of the AoC mechanics are also fairly Shadowbane-like, which also contributed to the death of that game

1) Extremely punitive death penalty in PVP - people can steal your shit
2) Extremely punitive town siege penalty - players who invested in the town lose their progress and most of their resources

New World also highlights many of the downfalls of this type of setup (so far as towns). Think about how many wars were won or lost on the back of bugs, shitty PVP balance, and other issues?

Now apply that to AoC with the potential to lose hundreds of hours of progress, and said loss is blamed on bugs and shitty pvp balance? People will flat out quit if that happens.

Just like NW would have died even quicker death if they went the "full pvp with full loot" survival mode like people wanted them to. Not only that, but they would have only sold like1/10 the boxes if that.

"Uhhh.. why did they change the game to PvE?" Because no one wants that shit.

It's always confused me why people clamor for this type of game. Like, the "wolves" want sheep to be there, but if the only incentive to be there is to be sheep, people won't play. It's a strange cycle that I don't think all these hardcore "pvpers" (read: people who enjoy ganking lower level/unprepared people) really understand. You have to have a reason for the sheep to be around in order to hunt them; if there's no reason for sheep to be there, there won't be any sheep. It's the forever problem with PVP-centric mmos.

The gathering luck change while PVP flagged is literally just "Hey what zerg guild is on your server? Yeah now they control the markets" with -zero- repercussions. It's like these devs have never played a video game outside Mario Bros.

You have no idea what you're talking about. A TON of people got innocently banned. There are stories with proof of middle aged women that have no idea what they're doing let alone how to cheat that got perma banned. He was a top crafter on our server since the beginning. A streamer sent him mats and he was way ahead of everyone and so everyone went to him to craft. He had no need to cheat as he had everything.

Which MMO was it that people started getting banned and bitching about on reddit or whatever, and then a dev went on there and posted all their logs and called every one of those jokers out....dude complained about not abusing some sort of exploit and the dev posted the logs of him doing it over 7,000 or so times haha.

Did that for every player on multiple websites bitching about being banned for " no reason ". Shit was epic.

Their CS has proven to be terrible for months now I don't know why you suddenly expect them to be crack detectives at their jobs. This is not a competent department, they don't have those period.

That was GW2.

That said, considering there were a bunch of reports that ppl were getting suspended due to automated bans from mass reports in the first few weeks so people would win wars by getting the opposite guilds suspended, I wouldn't put it past them fucking up and banning random people by mistake.

Right, the problem is that bans here seem to be bs. In other mmos I think most of us agree that people who scream ban are probably full of crap. Here? You can eat a ban just for being on the opposite team as a popular streamer and their community just mass petitions. Then when you reach the game's cs to resolve it you find its not actually the game's cs, its just general amazon cs, and they don't have a clue.

Then you get to the hilariously awful fact that they can't seem to properly close out the dupes and related exploits. So it's not far fetched to say that they don't even have a handle on it on their end.

So my conclusion is that yeah, here, in this game, they're totally hitting innocent people (and missing guilty ones) and the cs and maybe even devs can't even figure out what to do about the petitions to resolve it. They probably can't tell guilty vs innocent or even explain it; my guess is only whoever wrote whatever detection script they used is likely to know the how and why.

Have seen a couple commercials on network television for this game. Assuming that means the game is going strong. Might have to jump in to see what the fuss is all about. Don't want to miss out on the next big MMORPG!

Advertising is f'n everywhere. Surprises the fk out of me that it seems like theyre doing a bigger push now than when it launched, but I guess the Holiday push is where its at. "Here you go Grandson, I know you like these types of games!"

In other news Black Desert Online is 0.99 cents. Seems like a safe value buy over New World for 40 dollars. They should have done a Christmas sale for 29.99

I was one of those that was permanently banned by mistake back when GW2 launched. Took 3 or 4 weeks to get my account back. Was total fucking bullshit, still pissed to this day. Was the guild leader also and it caused all kinds of fucking issues since we were focused on WvW at the time.

They eventually sent an email saying my account was reinstated. Didn't apologize and didn't explain why they banned me in the first place. I still don't know why it happened. I'm not a script kid or any of that shit, never bought gold in any game.

Generally, the people who get banned in games deserve it, but the devs do make mistakes. And when mass bans are being handed out they sometimes throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I mean black desert is cool and all but this game is far from its copy. For one NW never gave me any asian vibes, even in the asian areas, lol. Seconnd BDO is awesome until you get to the part they want you to gamble for your gear, and no im not talking about the crafting gamble like NW has, were taking full out casino place your bets on this item upgrading or fucking lose it type gambling.

Never participated in the PvP BDO has, because I never gambled with my gear to get there, lol. In fact now looking back at my few months with BDO I cant really recall any features that were like new world.

This dude is smoking crack.

Also I know of a dude that got banned for 6 days for doing nothing. They said he was botting when he asked support why, but his original reason was "hacking" lol. And trust me, this dude is too dumb to set up a bot let alone hack the game. Im thinking either it was a mass report (he was rather infamous on our old server). Also this seemed to happen about 15-20 min after we wiped a few purples a few times own in reek.

The thing that really sucks about their system is not even the automated systems but the support absolutely does not check into shit, just says they do, sends a copy pasta of some tos bullshit and tells you to deal.

I thought it was a troll post on the official forums meant to abuse and insult the remaining players.

After reading through the entire thread, the original poster did change his tune (although he continued to buy BDO and play it) but then ultimately admitted to the Pay to Grind model and some of BDO's flaws.

Overall it was a good debate, and BDO scored a lot of points from current NW players in terms of combat and how the graphics held up. He said the reason he made the thread in the first place is for people who were looking for a true action combat MMO because New World couldn't hang anymore. People pointed out that New World itself never marketed itself as action combat and that players are the ones who did that.
