Do I have this mixed up with another mmo? What was that mmo with a massive skill wheel, could be anything. Guns, shutgons, riffles, magic. Some weird mechanics.

One thing I don't like about the new zone is the voice acting. Most of it sounds really flat and possibly AI generated. Morigane doesn't sound the same at all either

From what I understand, it’s not ai, but low budget due to a strike or something else. There was a huge discussion about it in global this morning I was half paying attention to,

Yeah I am enjoying the new area. Lots of little jump areas and such. MSQ finally worked for this morning and so should get that done tonight.

I can barely remember the game anymore. At some point I had a sound bug where the "main audio" no longer worked and all I got was the secondary audio. The soundtrack was like every 12th note of the music or whatever, and I lost all voiceovers. It made it unplayable and I quit. They had the worst customer support ever when I tried to address it through them.

I do remember enjoying it but I also remember thinking the loot chest runs were the dumbest shit ever. 100 people running through a zone just looting chests, some would fight, some would die, every man for himself basically. Has that changed?

Damn, I don't know if I can do that again. Everything up to that point was fun, but I tried that an a few pugs and it was pretty toxic. Maybe I just sucked. I remember leveling up with hatchet and got chewed out for using it in a dungeon. The entire group was awful, the healer sucked, but I was getting piled on for not min maxing as a fresh max level.

That’s every mmo really. There are a lot of returning players and they literally flipped the table in terms of best in slot/stats/etc, so people may be more forgiving since people are still figuring out the new meta

I guess the only MMO I've played consistently over the last decade or so is FFXIV, which had a much different vibe. Maybe it was the exception and not the rule.

FFXIV is pretty relaxed - only time a group member was an ass to me is I was doing leveling roulette on my samurai years ago and we got the first dungeon in the game and a guy in group was saying I was playing like shit because I wasn’t aoe attacking, but at the time samurai had zero aoe abilities at that level

I owe this game an apology. I am really digging it since not playing it since beta and writing it off. The world looks great, the scale is amazing, and I’m digging the combat. I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff to do and learn.

I played at OG launch t o max level and bailed. I dont even know if my character exists anymore and If I play again I would start fresh

What really is new? Seems like the same game just with an expansion and mounts

Your character is still there, however you may have to rename it if someone else took your name (a couple years back they freed up names from inactive accounts that had not played in a long time). You'll also have to pick a server since your original is probably gone.

Not sure when you played last, but they added Brimstone (desert zone with Ancient Rome/Egyptian theme), they completed redid First Light (it's basically a jungle zone now), heavy revamp of some existing zones, and they added this new zone which is basically vampire/werewolf themed.

They redid the entire perk/stat system with this latest update, raised level cap, added some new raids, they added a "catacombs" feature which is kind of like Torghast I think, added a capture the flag pvp mode, expanded soul trials (basically solo boss fights), mounts, redid the loot drop system that was in OG New World (you don't have to level individual item categories anymore, they just drop level appropriate now), added biased loot (what you are wearing = higher chance of that type of thing dropping),

I’m still trying to figure out the gearing system and what’s good, what’s bad, etc. it can be a little overwhelming but in a good way. Haven’t had this much fun in a long while.

You guys are going to make me try this again. I had to have a good time first time around, I played 90 hours. Cant remember why I quit but seems like now is a good time to try again.
