Ok so I gave it a go, I’m at level 15 and literally the game is exactly the same as when it launched other than the story reskin. Must be end game that’s different?

Endgame is a bit different, there is a new 3 person dungeon extraction content for gearing before the new raid, gear itself is a bit different with progression and stats, dlc story itself is as bad as rest of the story, but at least the new zone looks good asthetically. But aside from that yea its the same game.

Question for you vets of the game: where can you farm perks (offensive, defensive, and skills)? I believe gems are crafted but the prices of some of these perks on the trader are nuts for a new player. Where are they getting them to sell?

Prices are inflated right now because of the complete revamp of the perk system

Some perks only drop in certain spots or off certain npcs, but otherwise you can get them through quests or looting chests (higher tier chests have a better chance usually)

The reason I went back to ESO is that I can do all the casual shit and enjoy myself. (Quests, NPCs, etc.) It has shit I hate like animation-canceling, having to light attack after every keypress to maximize damage, etc. but that’s fine… I just don’t do hardcore content anymore. Too many medical issues.

New World just doesn’t feel as engaging on the PvE front. And then there’s PvP (which is a wash amongst all MMOs for me now) which I can’t do for same medical reasons (nerve damage, way slower reflexes, etc. ), but also just not grasping “builds”. I hit like a wet noodle, and feel like I get one-shot too consistently because there’s too much to keep up with: pop this potion, switch bars and trigger that skill, etc. Being old and broken sucks, boys and girls.

I hit 70 on my restart fresh which was quick and painless and have been enjoying the assorted glut of content that is out after 4 years, but the end game gearing does suck dick. The ARPG style loot randomization makes seeking out shit like chest runs or insta respawn farming the only real way to gear efficiently and that is insanely boring/tedious. They need to pump up cata, pvp and expedition rewards and add more fixed perk farming options so you aren't just in a raid group derpin fast respawns for days praying for the desired RNG rolls out of thousands of loot pieces. I am also sad they turned off PVP by default while out in the world. It was by far the most fun I had leveling back on release when everyone was flagged and the world felt dead without it this go. I do like that almost every build feels viable right now. Have been running great sword main hand and leveled up great axe, hatchet and probably going to do a couple more off hand options as well depending on how much gear farming I can tolerate.

Gear is the biggest problem in this game. It is a pain going through gear trying to find that one piece that has the correct open slots with descent to perfect remaining skills. If they are going to do it this way, add in a key word search that highlights the pieces in your inventory. That would help some.

I feel like a certain group of gorillas is going to get nerfed at some point....
