Ray Rice's stats - i dont know how much this loss hurts them. At least just going by 2013... 2012 was a much better season for him than I remembered though.

Our line was seriously no exaggeration the worst or second worst in the league last year. Running the ball starts with the O-line, he would have been better this year at least. Still, its RB, he can be replaced if the line plays well. His age is creeping in so he's no longer the most dangerous offensive weapon on the team. Then again, he's barely seen any time on the field this year and looked improved in the pre-season so who knows what would have been.

TMZ says NFL never bothered to ask casino for video | ProFootballTalk

Is this the end of the Rodge?

TMZ wrote this morning that league officials never contacted the Revel Casino to request video footage they might have had, and that the casino "would have gladly complied" had they been asked.
TMZ's sources said that the casino made a copy of the elevator footage for police, and Rice's lawyer has a copy along with TMZ. So there are at least three of them floating around.

That is a pretty huge fuckup on Goodell's part. People are going to be calling for his head even more so now.

But Trent Dilfer was applauding the way the NFL handled this situation! Who should I believe? You? Or a Super Bowl winning QB?

Janay is the big loser in this Ray Rice deal. She was married to a dude that punches her, but at least he made $7M a year. Now she's married to an unemployed dude that punches her.

I hope she learned a valuable lesson as to why you dont start shit with a man making $7M a year

Worst part is Rice was such a likable figure that he had a long career post-football as well and that is completely erased as well

The business of the NFL has boomed under Roger Goodell, expanding somewhat overseas, and making billions of dollars. I think it is one of the most successful businesses in the US; it thoroughly dominates the American sporting market, and that domination (while helped somewhat by steroids/strike in baseball, and the general shittiness of B-Ball in the post Jordan era) is going to continue for years.

I think it will take more than a pair of Ray Rice punches to unseat King Goodell, because money is king, and under Goodellfinger they are making it hand over fist.

Does anyone really think that Rice won't be signed to another team after the heat dies off a bit? What Vick did was far worse than punching a gold digger who had it coming.

I doubt it. The shelf life of running backs is pretty short. Basically by the time you hit 30, you're done. Not only that, but they're very easily replaced. There's almost no transition from college to the pros, so you can pick up a guy late in the draft (or even UDFA) and plug them in as a starter.

There's really no reason for anyone to give Rice a second thought after this. His career is over.

I think if there were vidoes of Vick electrocuting a dog to death I don't think he'd be in the NFL. Vick also happened way before social media is at the level it is today. I think with Rice's declining numbers and the the fact that the NFL is trying to absorb a female audience no one will be touching the dude.

I think the difference with Vick too is he served 1.5 years in Leavenworth, not quite a country club prison. He paid hard time for the backwoods bullshit he was involved in. There was no element of slap on the wrist with Vick, he got tossed in the slammer.

And yeah, I have to agree that Ray Rice's suspension will never be lifted. He is done in the NFL; I'm not sure any amount of public rehabilitation campaign will overcome the video of him smashing his fist into a woman's head.
