Risk mitigation. The thought is that if the defense knows a long pass is coming, that it's more likely to be intercepted. I think that was maybe more true 15 years ago than today with how the rules have changed, but...that's why coaches do it.

I can't imagine Baltimore's key starters staying in any longer. Would be one of the most pointless injuries all year if someone goes down now.
