The whole idea that Brady/Pats are going to turn it up a notch because of all their scandals is such BS. Like all the other players in the NFL don't have their own motivation and don't give a shit.
no you're wrong, and oblivious. tom brady is motivated by _____.

My comment about Butler meant was while he got burnt, he is only in year 2 (and he didn't play most of last season)was undrafted, and if he can improve a bit on what he looks to be atm, he could be a top cb in the league for the next several years. His coverage was good, but not quite good enough.... Yet.

Is there a CB that couldn't be one of the best in the NFL if they improve? I mean outside Morris Claiborne obviously

Butler played a pretty good game. Brown gets so many fucking targets there is no way ANYONE can keep a lid on him. Combine that with his current streak of at least 5 receptions a game (almost 40?!) and your talking about a guy who is pretty much uncover-able from a lock down shut down standpoint.

He has the speed, range and athleticism to be a top CB, now he just needs to get better reading the game (which he already does well considering he made the greatest read and interception in NFL history).

But you don't understand. Brady and the Pats* have actually been sandbagging it the past few years so the other teams don't feel so bad. All that stuff we thought was cheating was actually just them handicapping themselves to try to give the other fellas a chance. But that shit's over now. No more reading defensive signals so they can run a play the that will be stopped. No more flat footballs that brady can't throw as well. No more lining up and getting set, that way the other team has a chance to catch you out of position. It all makes sense now.
Yeah, this is why the mythical "Us Against the World" philosophy never worked out for anyone. Ever.

have any of you watched the patriots "do your job" program on NFL network? i watched it tonite (it was about how they coached the playoffs last year) with interviews from most of the Patriots coaching staff. i thought fi it was very good. they showed film of the patriots practicing that exact play during the week before the game. gave bill's thoughts on that weird lineup vs the ravens etc,

and that is what i meant jozu- btw looked it up, prior to the superbowl..butlers had been in on 4 pass plays all year. if he maintains what he showed vs kearse at the superbowl and improves his technique, he'll be an extremely good CB.

The same philosophy every team has every year? I usually get annoyed by all the stupid sports cliches people use over and over, but apparently a lot of people eat that shit up

This defense shifting before the snap shit getting brought up by the Steelers is hilarious. Some of polamalus most famous plays are of him doing literally that, and supermanning over the o-line.

Cut the kid some slack, he was covering the hands-down best WR in the NFL. You see how tight he was on him on some of those catches? Don't knock him for being unable to shut down a guy no one can shut downexcept Jimmy Smith. All the bullshit about how he couldawouldashoulda intercepted every pass is just wishful thinking. Brown didn't accidentally make those catches.
Gotta keep it factual.

Every team every year? Maybe to the minimal possible degree but come on, there are clearly some instances where it's a legit motivational angle for certain teams, and the Cheatriots* fit that billing as well or better than anyone in recent memory. There's a reason some cliches get used over and over.

Is there really anybody out there that doesn't believe the Patriots are a good team? People just love to shit on them for all the cheating because of how obnoxious their fan base is.

You really think people believe in the Browns? Or the Jags? Not sure how you think Patriots could possibly "fit the bill more than anyone in recent memory". The Giants 2 victories would be the obvious choices. Of course, you only say that when a major underdog wins and never think about it when they lose.

The only teams that can't use the "Nobody believed in us!" cliche are: Packers, Patriots, Cowboys, Seahawks, Broncos, and Colts. Plus, * disagrees with me so that should validate my point.
