No, it's because Canadian teams don't know how to build Cup Winners since 93.

Fuck this goalie won the game bullshit. We lost big fucking deal. We won a few golds already get over it.

Russia isn't even in this Olympics so we all can't say the winner is the best hockey team in the world.

I live in Vancouver BC. I haven't been shit upon or cancelled yet due to my pronouns.

There isn't an overt parading of he/shes/them, so not sure what that guy was posting about with the flag.

Better to have a flag with a crying goose or spilt maple syrup over a snow covered ground. Maybe even broken hockey sticks.
Agreed. A pile of sticks would make a great flag for Canada

Hockey is our 4th most popular sport and we smoked you at your ONLY sport. Sad.
I don't know what game you were watching. It was exciting and extremely intense and went to OT.

I lived in Ottawa for a bit as an expat. I never would have ever imagined I'd see the day the Trans for Palestine protest would purposefully disrupt the LGBT parade because it wasn't showing support in their protest for Palestine. In Ottawa even the gays can't get along due to their "progressiveness". The big yearly LGBT parade literally shut down.

Also, "well Russia wasn't playing" is dumb logic because that can go for any sport in the Olympics. So apparently because Russia was banned the entire Olympics are now not real.

As a Canadian, I enjoyed the fuck out of that game, can't ask for more than a gold medal game going in overtime. I'm disappointed by the result obviously, I think we deserved better.

That said, the 5 on 3 was painful to watch, I don't think we even got a good shot on goal in a minute and a half. Hats off for USA for defending that.

MacKinnon is going to have nightmares about that empty net he missed.

Halleybuck was awesome letting one goal on 42 shots, great performance.

I'm not a fan of a gold medal being decided on 3 vs 3, but everyone knew going in that this was going to be the case so can't really complain about it.

At the end of the day, awesome game and grats to the USA for the gold.

Olympic games puts into perspective how absolutely grueling the Stanley Cup Playoffs are.

Shit is honestly nothing more then a exhibition game. Yea it's amazing we get to see best on best but honestly playoff matches are much more entertaining to me.

Granted the hype and nationalism go a long way for these games, but from a pure gamer perspective nothing completes with hoisting that Cup.

Believe me, I agree 3 on 3 in the elimination rounds is not the way to go. But agreed obviously everyone knew it was that way going in.

There was never any guarantee they win a 5-on-5 either. Pretending the 3-on-3 format is the deciding factor is just a convenient little cope to cling to so they don't have to admit their team got beat, cleanly.

If you were truly confident in your squad, the format wouldn't matter. Good teams win. Period. Like I said, if the result had flipped, not a single word of this whining would exist.

Not commenting on who's going to win either way. Even back in the quarterfinals when we had 3 of the 4 games go to OT involving 6 teams I was against it being decided 3 on 3 in OT then. It's fine for group stages and NHL regular season. When the games are elimination games in the Olympics/whatever international tournament or the Stanley Cup playoffs, should be 5 on 5. Doesn't have a thing to do with which teams are playing, just the simple idea that purest form of hockey is where the games should be decided.

I agree. But even then we still run into the controversy of missed calls and soft calls that decide games. There's always an excuse you can make which is why you should always lose with grace and yell GG.

Of course. It's like the "we were the better team" whining. As if all of these guys haven't watched their goalies steal games every so often over and over. How many whole playoff series end up going to the team that's getting dominated in possession because their goalie was on acid for 4-7 games?

Canada was minutes away from losing multiple times prior to the final. This idea they're going to magically always win close games in single elimination is ludicrous.
