Good start on Wends for the Avs!

New look PP to get 4 goals in the opener, a nice change from their lame PP last year. They did give up 2 short handed, but got one on LA also, making it a bit of a fire wagon style game.

29 must have had alot of pool time in the off season, because he came to play this year for sure!

Love having to wait extra days to start the season and with a back to back on the road. At least Carolina was a speed bump this early in the year, see how we do with Tampa 24 hours later tonight.

Officially Ovis last season, and on a tangent... Matthews will never catch up why the FUCK did I choose this guy 9th overall in my fantasy league. Fucking Leafs...

Kind of expected, but a little sad to know this is definitely it. Obviously he's nowhere near the player he was even a couple years ago, let alone way back in his prime. But damn what a ride it's been. I'd love the fairy tale ending, but if we're living in reality, a decent playoff run would be a nice send off.

hell of a career, glad i got to see it all. when Malkin and Crosby finally retire it's gonna be like seeing the Roethlisberger/Eli/Rivers era end. Ovi is more Brady but Brees/Peyton/Brady all retired too damn far apart to use them lol.

It's going to be wild when all 3 are done. I think Sid might hang on another couple years to try and go for 2k points, but we'll see. But like Tom Wilson said to Ovechkin, they're the only 2 left from the 2018 Cup team, which is a little wild even though it's 8 years later. Trading Carlson last deadline was a sign that the end of this era was coming. Wilson likely the next captain, but the new "core" group of Roy, Chychrun, Strome, Dubois all already there. Plus with the young kids in Leonard, Hutson, younger Protas, and Sourdif, it'll be a decent mix. Be interesting to see if those young kids can hit their ceilings and make the team a true contender.
