You may not have liked Metroid Dread, but the same studio also did Samus Returns, a very good Metroid 2 remake on 3DS. That's more what I had in mind when I said give them the Zelda 2 remake personally.

As for Ocarina of Time, I played the 3DS version and it was indeed an upscaled remaster, this appears to be a full remake from scratch though so I'm thinking we'll have some major differences (perhaps cut content such as the Light Temple?).

We'll know more about it soon.

I thought the Spirit Temple basically was the Light Temple. Didn't it have light puzzles in it? Or was it more of a wind temple (so the counterpart of the Forest Temple)?

Five was an odd number of temples, so a sixth being cut is believable.

This. Granted, I only played TotK but I assume it's the same in BotW, but pausing the game to scroll through an item menu during combat? Completely breaks any flow. What kind of retarded game design is this?
It's the multiple examples of shit like this in the game that make me roll my eyes any time someone says how it's one of the greatest video games ever.

Was a big reason I never got very far in BoTW. Just got annoyed. That and the massive amounts of just open space got boring.

BOTW is full of empty boring space and everything has that washed-out low-contrast look. I actually can't stand BOTW.

Also think… BOTW was on the WiiU…its crazy they had the game they did on it.

BOTW is way better than TOTK imo… they fusion arrow nonsense scrolling was junk

I liked it better on the WiiU, since that was clearly the console it was designed for what with the game's tablet being a literal copy of the system's. Pretty much the only hardware gimmick Nintendo has ever come up with that I think actually worked well (not just in BotW, almost all of the best games on the system--XCX, TMS#FE, Fatal Frame 5, etc.--made excellent use of the tablet and their remasters on other systems are all worse for lack of it).

Still wasn't enough to get me to ignore the other terrible design decisions in BotW, but at least it was less shitty than the times I tried to force myself to play it on my Switch. Or TotK which was even worse in every way.

I went ahead and got starfox. I never really played the n64 one, just once via emulator back in the early 2000s I'm guessing so don't feel, at least for me, this is a waste of $60.

I didnt know much of anything on pathing etc, but apparently my 1st run i went hard mode and took all the hard paths. I died a number of times and continued on the sector before venom in the dog fight as I needed to learn a good tactic.

Graphics etc are top notch. Didn't care for mouse controls playing on couch but sure others may care. Game just feels fun, although short like any remake from n64 and starfox in general.

Will play more to get all the paths etc, and challenge stuff until I get tired of it.

Online dogfights seem fun enough. Not sure if it will be huge long term bit will enjoy it while the player count is still high.

Would recommend if you never played n64, if you played that a lot worth if you love it, but if starfox wasn't your thing it may be a waste of money.

Really feel like it pushed the switch 2 and how it can be graphics. Doesn't need photo realism but it just looks nice and hope more games take advantage.

i did a quick google it was either these or the mobapad m12, and this was the one amazon had, i already have a 8bitdo ultimate 2 which will connect to it, but i wanted a controller that could go on the switch and portable, basically replacing the joycons (and it had to have backbuttons)

I’m thinking when the ocarina remake drops it’s that and this star fox game as my first purchases. I will say the Switch has conjured more feelings like the SNES than any other system. I know I played the original N64 but have zero recollection of it.

I have it and I couldn't play the Switch 2 in handheld mode without a bigger grip. I would have hoped the material would be a tad better, but it works really well in handheld mode. The controller mode (like the one pictured) isn't that great because it doesn't lock in place, and both sides wiggle quite a bit. However, this doesn't happen once it's attached to the Switch 2. The rumble is ok but not as good as on the basic controller and on positive side you can switch the d-pad for a traditional one. You will also need a bigger case.

Most of my memories of n64 are the early release games. Mario 64, waverace, pilot wings. Honestly other than Zelda and Star Fox I can’t even remember other games. Games were expensive as fuck for the time so growing up reasonably poor we couldn’t get many anyways.

I was wondering Target and did the new remake StarFox demo- it feels exactly like the N64 its great- all the things flow- but some things are expanded in terms of talking lines- some things slightly fleshed out etc.

My son (6) then did the demo and blew up... and that was the only animation that hit me as bad... the arwing just tapped the ground and exploded quickly and that was that.. I may be remembering the OG start fox where your ship skipped around and it was very dramatic lol

But the kid loved the quick demo, he liked that there were big robots throwing towers at him "And I dodged them!" lol

StarFox 64 holds a special place, as I have said before - it was the first game I purchased with my own 100% worked for with a real job - money. Yeah Rumble pack and all that lol was like 80$ lol

did you use the nyxi app to connect? it has a 1.3rating, and it's not silly, i opened, and crash, i clear cache (even tho it was first install) and it almost works, you can only config 1 joycon at a time...

and then it disconnects.

Wife wanted something we can play together. She tried (and failed badly) at co-op portal with me. Ordered a Switch 2, should be here mid week. We had a Wii so I'm hoping this will be something she can pick up. Any good 2 player games you'd recommend? I'm thinking Mario Kart for sure but not even aware of any others.

Mario Kart is good. If you're open to switch 1 games there's a ton - a lot of the Mario games are 2-4 players. I think split fiction is also on switch 2.

it takes 2 is a good wife coop game if your relationship is strong (they also made split fiction)
she may like animal crossing and/or pokopia, both are no combat cozy games
mario wonder has coop but if she failed at portal may not be great. same with luigis mansion
moving out and a few other (overcooked etc) cozy coop games are fun together, no combat
my wife has only played 2 games, animal crossing (sw1) and fantasy life (sw2) i think its basically like animal crossing but does have coop

My wife is not a gamer but she loved Untitled Goose Game on the Switch, she still references it sometimes years later. She also enjoyed It Takes Two and Split Fiction, but sometimes she would need me to handle some of the platforming sections for her. I thought she might be into Animal Crossing but she fucking hated it due to lack of direction and mainly being single player. She tried Portal once years ago and liked the concept but she can't get a handle on FPS controls so we've avoided them since. Mario Kart is definitely going to be a safe pick too.

Thanks gang. FYI I know nothing about the switch and didn't realize it could play S1 games as well. Good to know. When we tried portal she was useless with the Kb&m AND controller.

Resident Evil games are also good wife picks to play together. I'll be playing and she helps me by saying "AAAAAAHHHHH!" or "WHAT THE FUCK!" whenever there is a monster/spider/shadow/vaguely menacing sound nearby.
