Pretty much :p

They have completely, and maybe purposely? (Not sure I never played Nioh 1 or 2 on PC) made the graphical settings options retarded. From FPS limits and selections, some only come on with dynamic FPS scaling, to various sliders to control it all, 3 of them conflicting with each other giving other options. Jesus.

DO what everyone else does. FPS Max you want (60, 120, 240) and DLAA or DLSS with Quality, standard, performance. It isn't that fucking hard.

I mean Sweet Christ. Why? And separate menu for graphical settings and post effects too.

I was underwhelmed last night with the performance and fidelity on my 9070XT and 9800x3d. All I did was turn it to very high though and didn't go through the individual screens or make an attempt to improve anything.

I think they have done enough to be their own genre. Souls games are very slow in comparison.

I'd agree at this point. Nioh deserves more cred.

To me Nioh is more like the Soulsborne genre made sweet love to the Ninja Gaiden series and then Nioh was born.

Ran way better when I turned off frame gen and any upscaling to off. Using AMD.

On the fence with the open world stuff, on one hand no nore re-running mission to find that one thing you missed but on the other it is doing the ubisoft thing with collecting stuff. Depending on how aggressive they are with all the wall off/come back later when you have the thing it can go either way.

I'll check that out. Only made it out of the tutorial area or whatever after picking the spirit armor option whatever. Wish I had more time to dive in Nioh 1 and 2 were great. They included story summaries too in the in-game encyclopedia thing. Amazing how bad I always am starting out each time.

So I downloaded new drivers that came out, set DLSS to 70, turned global illumination to standard, everything else is high quality and I am hovering around 92 FPS. However, the camera when it moves literally feels like it is 30 FPS which is why I am being thrown off. Camera movement is choppy and not smooth. Locked at 120 but Steam counter reports 91-95 FPS in the open world. No idea why that is. I also exit the game and go to steam and have to stop the game from running or it says in steam it is still running.

edit: Doing testing I went to DLAA at 100% - Locked went from 120 to 240 by itself (lol) - I put on 2x Frame Gen, no input lag and the camera is smooth. Fucking weird.

Makes me glad that I am going to play it on ps5pro.

Game is fun, but there is zero excuse for looking like it does. Imagine this gameplay in a game world that looks like CP2077. How can it be so difficult to achieve graphical fidelity close to a game that released half a decade ago... It's been a while since I've played Nioh 2 but I feel like this looks exactly the same? It looks graphically very similar but also runs like ass for me.. the combat though, is just as gratifying as previous titles and I'm excited to play release.

That was what immediately hit me after walking out of the first temple area into the larger space. Was waiting for that "Wow, this is Nioh 3!" But instead it was way more of a "oh... okay so it is like Nioh 1 and 2?" I'm not stuck on graphics and pretty VFX over gameplay, it was just sort of underwhelming.

Where the fook are demos kept on the Playstation Store? I dicked around looking for the demo section for a few minutes this morning, and then I had to go. Wanted to get the download going. I haven't gotten a demo in a while but I remember there being a very obvious tab for them back in the day. I even searched for "demo" and it only brought up game results by name, like Demon Souls.

They have changed some mob placement at least so far vs the alpha demo, or at least I haven't found any of those giant worms yet that are a massive pain in the ass. I haven't been deep into the main area yet but I specifically remember there being one on the shore by the area you start in that has been replaced with a few gaki now. Also fuck the werewolf looking dudes lol.

Going back and playing Nioh 2...Nioh 3 feels like "ubisoft does Nioh". Doesnt feel nearly the same level of challenge.

I imagine the difficulty shows up post demo area.
Played a bunch with a friend too and it made the demo area even easier. Doesnt seem to be any scaling. Also had some weird bug with the helper/enemy "pools" (red/blue) not showing up for one whoever the guest was. Now that I'm doing Nioh 2 again the graphics are definitely better in 3 and having a jump is super nice. Part of what made it easier is the open world. If you're a completionist you out level a lot of the content if you clear it all. Had a fun time with it and will be picking it up.
