Hatorade is probably right, that the game features a difficulty spike at some point .

Since it is more open world, it might be more like Elden Ring in terms of difficulty. No mob scaling there either, and if you encounter a difficult area, you can easily go somewhere else, level up and come back. It's not until the mountain snow area where mobs starts to hit like trucks no matter how much you level in the earlier parts.

Demo seems huge. Still can’t get game to look nice but it’s running well at least.

Combat still SSS tier and very satisfying. Pretty pumped for release now

You AMD? If so hook up your settings. Haven't had a chance to try out Hatorade or Utnayan's suggestions yet. Too damn busy.

I did d/l the PS5 demo just for kicks if the kids want to watch a ninja game. They like watching / playing Astro Bot and Spiderman.

I didn’t even make it past the intro. To me, this looks and feels like Nioh 1 on the PS4. I've already played that game.

The open world is kind of neat but everything’s too easy? I’ve died once to that first boss but was kinda jacking around. Now that I’ve got a bunch of skills I’m just marauding through the zones. Moment to moment gameplay and skills are great though, just not challenged much yet. Hope release ramps up difficulty as there are tons of ways to make this game easier, but not many I can tell to ramp the challenge

Have you fought the four armed yokai in the mist that is near the center of the map? Close to a enemy base iirc.

This game has really nice visuals.

Single ninja sword is the way, I hear?

Not sure yet, seems like a good use of a strength build, waiting until I unlock all weapons before deciding. The move behind enemy attacks so far are a waste because they either turn around immediately or you out if range. More experimentation required.

Really you went for the ass covering?

Pathetic

I killed the first boss with dual swords and the ninja chain thingy. I didn't feel OP at all. Was I supposed to level before fighting that guy? Felt like I had to do about 15 staggers to kill him and he kills me in 3 hits.

Is there another option besides the ass covering? I took off the armor to see what she was rocking, and that's what was there.

Surprised that the single sword is regarded as OP. It feels so...ordinary.

Yea there is an option for toilet paper thong.

So far from the first fight the ninja stance felt superior. The whole pressing RB to get stamina back didn't feel particularly great. And being able to dodge like a moron in ninja felt better. I'm sure with more perks in the different stances will determine what I actually prefer.

I'm not really a fan of the pressing RB to recover stamina after attacks. It's really distracting when I'm trying to strike and dodge. Now I remember what it was that put me off from Nioh 1 (or maybe it was Nioh 2 when I tried that) and kept me from sticking with the series. It was that damn RB mechanic.

Just feels like it's too busy at that point on the gameplay front. I guess the RB is there for pros to combo into their moves so they can endlessly attack and regain stamina. Hopefully I can just play the game normally (i.e. like a Souls) and get by without worrying about it that much. I'll try to hit it after attacks as a muscle memory thing.

Edit: Also, this keeps me from changing the attack buttons to R1 and R2 like I want to, because then the ki pulse will be on square and that'd be even weirder. Ehh, I'll just do it anyway.

Fist weapons are fun as hell, been flying around at warp speed just shredding the map. Think I've beat everything in demo, unlocked everything (from what I can tell). Long wait until next week!

Oh, I've been using the Samurai single sword, just got Ninja and the single sword for that.

Should I have picked a different weapon for the Samurai? Cause the straight sword is pretty boring over there. The Ninja sword is much more fun, think I'll just stay in Ninja form.

Edit: NM, you pick a form. That first weapon doesn't actually matter much. Picked ninja, kept single sword. Alright, NOW I've got the weapon people were talking about.

Game is very good. Considering playing this before Nioh 1 and 2 if it's significantly easier than they are, which people are saying but we don't really know yet beyond the demo.
