I give them credit for fixing a lot of the gameplay problems but goddamn this game still gives mobile/GAAS/MMO garbage a serious run for their money when it comes to endless tedium, a retarded grind, and lack of anything resembling QOL.

I don’t care for the city / ingredients / components part of the game. What is the point of making me put eight pieces of wood in a refinery and having to wait for them to get done? There’s no mobile gem shop type component to this game so I don’t understand the point. That part is bad design. Loving the world, level designs, combat, setting though. They just need to cut out the pointless shit like that, it doesn’t add anything positive to the game experience.

Yeah, that's my biggest problem with the game. I hate having to constantly stop and harvest materials (doubly so because it's a retarded QTE minigame that takes way too long) instead of just playing the game. They removed the timers on buildings but apparently Mahler or whoever it is that defends the mobile game shit like it's his firstborn is a spiteful prick because they also doubled the cost of everything in the patch so you end up having to go back to the newb zone and farm copper and pine which is just as much a waste of the player's time as having real world timers.

And the even worse material refining timers weren't touched at all, so that's still a shitty slog as you wait around for the retarded 8-at-a-time queue to slowly tick down. If there was a mod that just gave you 999 stacks of every material, or even just made the cost of everything 1 unit instead of 5/10/20, I'd download it in a heartbeat. Even then you'd still have to stop for every fish and dig spot, since that's the most consistent source of gems, plus depending on build you probably need quite a bit of silver/birch for upgrades.

This game is pretty epic so far.
Yeah I’m loving it. The town and crafting tedium sucks ass but everything else is awesome. I hope the class system, wipe, rest of the game happens somewhat soon.

Not sure how much I have left, I’m 30 hours in and exploring south of the town now. I know there’s at least one other area based on an objective on the map so seems like I’ve still got quite a bit to go.

I picked this up during the free weekend. Graphics at 4K with everything maxed is just gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful game. Not far enough in for whatever tedium to set in.

Even when the tedium is there, it’s manageable by just doing the tedious part for like 15-20 minutes, then go back to the main game. It’s not game ruining it’s just a baffling decision because it’s so obviously bad design.

They released a news update today, they hit 1.5m sold, 500k of that from the past two weeks. It took two years to hit 1m, this co-op update was huge for sales. They’re going to crush it once 1.0 releases.

There was a free weekend I think as well? and a 40% off sale.

40% off EA price($39.99), which will go up to $50+ at after 1.0 iirc, means its likely the cheapest now, it will be for quite some time.
$24 atm.

yeah, I bit at that, and picked it up the other day too.

"With just ONE last day for the ONLY 40% off sale before 1.0, bring in your friends to enjoy this beautiful game"
yeah, today is the last day for this as well.

probably ok on a sale, don't recommend at full price
This games already worth full price and it’s not even fully released yet. You spend more than this on a single meal then post pics about it as a flex. You’re an idiot.

Finished what’s available of the story. Still need to beat the crucible and that’s most/all of the story content currently available I think. 43 hours so far, haven’t farmed any current endgame pestilence mats yet. Watched a nice dev q&a from a few days ago, pretty hyped to see what 1.0 looks like. Four more zones will come with 1.0, this is already a damn epic game, very impressed with it.

Dude. You need to gitgud. This game is epic.

The platforming is annoying and the camera is terrible at times.

Gathering resources is tedious and doesn't give much satisfaction.

I like the core game, but they tacked on some shit which detracts from the quality.

The game feels on the easy side, so gitgud is not the issue. My only deaths are from falling to death, because I want to move fast in these games and it is hostile to that at times.

Really breaks the rhythm for me.

Glad to hear you enjoy it.

They’re addressing some of that in the future. Resources will go into inventory automatically. Agree that the amount is tedious and it’s the one thing that is not a good design in the current game. They’ll be adding more building projects so I’m hoping it is easier to spread out the collecting once there are more projects to build and feels more natural. Also addressing some of the falling, like when there’s a ladder or vines in front of you but you launch off anyway because you were sprinting instead of walking up to it. It’ll never get removed entirely though because you would be able to exploit paths too easily and get to areas the wrong way.

I didn’t like the platforming at first but after a couple of hours you get used to the controls and get the hang of it and it’s not bad at all. The camera itself was something I didn’t really like at first but once I got used to it and how they designed the levels it really just makes sense and works well. You can always see what you need to see, if you can’t you’re just in the wrong spot for what you’re trying to do/get to and need to go find the correct pathway.

Good to hear that, small improvements would take this from a 7/10 to a 9/10 for me.

For some reason the default setting on my comp was so dark that I couldn't see doors and ladders in darker places, had to increase brightness to the point where the visuals lost their appeal.

I still haven't figured out if I can access some ladders that seem at jump height with the right input, or are if they just meant to be reached in other ways.

Hope they replace the "hold ctrl to move to cursor" with "click where you want to go and your character will walk there".

Played this without any youtube instructions or guides and intend to keep it that way, will give it more time in a month or so.

Ladders not connected to the floor? You need to find the other end and kick it down usually.
