Yeah even with 4K right now, what are you going to get? Maybe 60 frames 70 if your lucky or else turn everything down to low to maybe get 80?. Ever since I went 166hz on monitor I dont wanna see 60 again. 8K is so far out of reach right now its literally GENERATIONS behind even if it ends up existing this year.

Does depend a bit on what you play though. I'm content with 4k60 personally but I rarely ever play anything that'd warrant having more than 60FPS in general. Would be nice to have I guess but I'm not spending 3k to buy a new GFX+new monitor just for that, and I could downgrade to 1440p for higher FPS but that still involves buying a new monitor which seems like a waste of money.

Like this year I played a bunch of games and a bunch of them wouldn't have benefitted at all, and the few that would were still in the "meh" category for me(getting 120+FPS on No Man's Sky or Monster Hunter Rise would have been better but hardly important imo).

Plus I dont even see the NEXT gen consoles after PS5 and Xbox X going full 8K or even in 2 generations. So games will still be made for 2K-4K for the foreseeable future. The only reason 4K even exists today in peoples homes is because of upscaling anyways since most media is still broadcast in 1K.

With 4090 I’m at 150+++ fps in most games fully maxed in 4k on a 144hz 43” monitor. Going from 1440p to 4k and increasing fps has been pretty fucking amazing tbh and I can’t go back. Like tasting a steak then eating McDonald’s again

Assuming that's a fact - why buy a 3080ti when a 7900 XT is the same price and much better performance? I'm genuinely curious why'd you'd make that suggestion.
Do we even know that's true yet?

I'm just saying, if all you care about is getting 144hz@1440p, a 3080ti can be had for as low as $729 today as opposed to a 7900 XT which will take winning the lottery to get one before March.

1440p is definitely the res to be at for gaming right now imo.
Right, ideally a 3440x1440 widescreen is probably the best overall gaming experience for most games, assuming you can fit it on your desk.

I'm in a situation where I'd love to buy the Alienware OLED Ultrawide, but I need a 27 inch monitor for work right next to my main display and that's just way too fucking awkward.

The 8K they're quoting is a lie, and it's an ultra wide 4k, not true 8k. So 2x the resolution of 4k.

Supposedly they're not being as shady as they seem, apparently there's a bunch of 4k ultrawide screens coming out that we're just not aware of yet.

My issue is it's 8,000 x 2250 not 7680 × 4320, so about 54% of the pixels, far below what people think of when they hear 8k. Not to say that it wouldn't be a sweet monitor, but it's really marketing BS.

Makes sense, and would easily go team red this gen if the 4080 was something I’d been considering

So banking on x50 version to compete or they just don't care about the super high end. Going to assume the former, but the latter would be great. Let nvidia have those 1% and just gobble everything else up. And have something ready for the obvious TI versions.

I got 60fps at 4k with my 1080Ti on most games. That was before there were many monitors that were pushing more than that but other the AORUS 48 LG Panel OLED I just got, I am still stuck at 60hz.

I am stoked for the 7900XTX.

Crazy if the 7900XTX actually only pulls 350w, considering the RedDevil is basically around 330-350 itself. Looks like I'm definitely sticking with AMD again this generation.

The 4080 is 320w.

Will be interesting to see performance per curves watt on both, head to head.
