I bought something last week and on Amazon it now says

"Your package may be lost"

neat
I did get a UPS tracking update one time that said "delayed due to train derailment". I eventually got that package, must have been a later train lol.

Amazon has been super vague, which I don't understand why amazon is sending anything at all considering I didn't send them anything first.

Woo Hoo got an email from Amazon, they found it and tracking shows it to be in the same small town in TX it was for 2 days before it magically showed up in FL. Track doesn't show it arriving or being shipped. I bet it was mis scanned or whatever and it magically showed up. Maybe Monday the box I get to shipped to they close at 3pm.

I need a new GPU mine is getting worse every day. Crosses fingers, hopes it arrives in shape resemblind a computer.

Alright boys. We greenlit me building a new PC. My plan has been a 9800x3d and a 9070xt.

Any compelling reason to do a 5070ti over it for gaming? Anything I should wait for from amd?

allegedly intel might be comming out with a 24gb card soon. There's some big tech convention occurring in a week where it might be officially revealed by intel. If it doesn't wow me, I'm building the same.

I work with Intel and I'll never buy anything they make right now. That's all I can really say

They're ok. They're pretty entry level stuff

I don't trust them though
From the hype, it sounds like the b780 won't be entry-level. If you want to build now, pull the trigger on the 9070xt. My potato is really starting to annoy me, but I think I can wait a few more months for an inexpensive 24gb card.

Both cards are realistically the same price, and the 5070ti is a little faster. Maybe not so compelling.

You could wait a couple weeks for Computex, but I don’t think AMD has anything better even rumored. The 24gb Intel card’s intended for workstations, so that’s probably nothing.

Snagged a 9070xt for $729 this morning gigabyte OC version, though I don't care about their stock OC. Figure it won't hit MSRP any time soon.

the b580 is NOT intels first graphics card, it is in fact the i740, i believe it was the first agp video card and it was dogshit, b/c the drivers suck ass

Hardware Unboxed has a direct 5070ti vs 9070XT game benchmark.

AMD hasn't publicly stated that anything better than the 9070XT is forthcoming. It's possible that they are binning yields for a 9075XT or similar that might have a few more cores enabled and/or faster memory, but no news of a different, larger die that AMD would need to make something significantly faster.

5070ti pros (vs 9070XT):
Faster at raster - anytime it isn't the problem is likely driver issues that should be resolved (i.e Doom Dark Ages)
Noticeably faster at ray tracing - most noticeable on new games that really push RT like Wukong and Indiana Jones, 9070XT is fine for light/medium RT games
Lower power consumption
Better Upscaling with DLSS (although AMD's FSR is improving) and better frame generation (I'm not a big fan of FG anyway)
Better GPGPU support for AI, LLMs, Cuda, etc...

Cons:
Multiple driver bugs with the 5000 series that NV has yet to fully resolve
More expensive
AMD probably still has the better software suite for tuning clocks/voltages/etc. (though NV has improved)

My last GPUs have all been from AMD - 6950XT, 7900XTX, and 9070XT.

The only pro in that I like is the power consumption. I have zero care for DLSS or RT. Same for AI and language models.

Just finding cards at msrp or close is the real issue. I want a 9070xt, but always listed way above or if it is msrp or very close, its out of stock when I notice it(probably being bought to then re-sell at higher).

ya the b580 definitely wasn't their first GPU because their first GPU was the arc a380.

people seem to like the arc b series /shrug

Got new PC in. Mine had Asrock MB and Asrock 9070XT Steel legend. It didn't matter to me and I was sure they buy what they can get cheap in bulk. First time to use Windows 11. Currently installing windows 10 that I had a copy and key for. I don't care if it's not seure, nothing on that computer but my Steam key and I don't leave my cc attqached to it. I knew 11 was blah but that's the most distracting useless shit in the world.

Came with software to turn off the multitude of RGB leds. The software kept saying it didn't have a driver and couldn't locate one to download. A few sheets of paper taped to it solved that. I called Thermaltake USA. That's a pretty big misnomer name wise. I've had better conversations with APU at 7-11.

I won't get to use the GPU till tomorrow.

I switched to Windows 11 a few years ago, there is too much wrong from a security perspective to use Win 10 in 2025. You can get StarDock's Start11 and make Windows 11 look however you want, just like Win10 (or Win 8 or Win7 in fact) without needing to hack the Registry, which isn't any fun any more.

Don't settle for being part of a russian/Nkorean/<insert criminal malware gang> bot farm because Windows 11 looks like shit.

Asrock's not bad; its just the downbrand of Asus that got spun off, took on a life of its own and became an actual competitor. They have just as stupidly expensive Mobos as everyone else now.

Link to their software support page:

I went minimal RGB with my previous build but this time I went all ICUE, RGB fans, Titan Dominator LCD AIO, PowerColor Red Devil 9070 XT, etc, which of course I made purple and dark reds. I am recovering from being a sickly fuck and having bronchitis but I need to clean my desk off of a thousand meds and take pictures of it. It's the RGB extravaganza I wanted to build for years; Now that I let go and had Microcenter build it, it was super easy. My wife takes one look at it and goes "Wow, that's super berry".

Ego crushed.

PS: Grats on the new machine, which I thought but stupidly forgot to write, fellow Diabetic brother in arms.
