Know how I might be able to save all my existing chrome tabs open of stuff I needed to research/buy/look at? Last time I did this after HD failure, google couldn't seem to just remember "open last 25 tabs" or whatever when I figured it'd be synced (it's on)
Chrome saves the profile data in %LOCALAPPDATA%, basically:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\...

Nvidia drivers have been a crapshoot with crashes since they launched the 50xx series. I'm on a 4080super and I still use the 566.36 drivers because newer drivers kept giving me black screens or crashes.

In your case, it might be worth trying an older driver. Uninstall the nvidia app, DDU your current driver, and install driver 591.74 first (without nvidia app), if issues persist try an older driver like 577.00 or 576.80. I'd also disable Windows Update from updating drivers once you get the system stable. Hopefully it's something that simple instead of a larger issue.

Check your memory.

Did you overclock or undervolt?
2nd set of memory on this computer. No adjustments, I seemed to eliminate some of my early crashing last year by taking it off xmp profile

I was on Discord with him last night before playing Arc - I can definitely confirm this is bigger now than a NVIDIA driver issue. Sludig Sludig needs a complete wipe and reinstall of his OS. He also had a friend fucking around with Anti Cheat software in the registry while trying to get BF6 to function - so no idea what that person did there. Even safe mode was running into error issues and even had search delay in the Desktop of up to 5+ seconds or never appearing, and barely got it back (After multiple attempts). Also couldn't uninstall the Nvidia App in safe mode without errors all while internet disabled. I was thinking DDU but this goes far deeper with whatever that other guy did when BF6 didn't run correctly.

More crucial are his pictures and data - but I do not want him even using anything on that drive from anything other than a data hold (Or throw it in an enclosure) and do a complete OS wipe and install and everything fresh (Chip set drivers, Nvidia, even Steam and game downloads)

What is sad is that he could have grabbed a 4tb 990 Samsung m.2 from Amazon in September for the price of what a 1tb is now.... Glad I bought mine as secondary when I did. $166 in September for a 4tb 990, now its up to 899....

We ran basic hardware tests and he is good. This is definitely a fucked OS. (His BIOS rev is also only n-1)

This OS was messed before all this but what more than likely made it implode was when his buddy fucked around with kernel level anti cheat in the registry.

I had an extremely annoying issue with black screens during gaming and it took me half a day to fix it, that was like 9+ months ago though.

Damn, that's unfortunate, tinkering with registry can absolutely brick your OS. Yeah definitely deeper than a GPU driver, and data preservation (however small) is paramount. Good looking out there and hope it gets resolved. Sludig, regarding the XMP issues, can try disabling "memory context restore" if it's enabled in BIOS, reboot the system a few times and see if the mobo can get proper timings for the RAM and no crashes, and then turning "memory context restore" back on. If left off, will add more time to boot up, but may handle an XMP profile if desired once the OS/data recovery issues are situated. If the system can't handle it no biggie, just something I've dealt with (EXPO in my case).

Same thing with me, and I think some of my issues stemmed from having 3 screens (2 gaming monitors and a 65in TV for couch gaming). If I disconnected all but 1 monitor some drivers would work fine, but that just wasn't feasible. So went back to the last stable driver before the 50xx series drivers and PC has been solid ever since. Nvidia truly stole AMD's thunder for having notoriously bad GPU driver issues.

I had a bunch of driver hangs with my 7900XT - after thinking about it, it turns out after I put my 2nd monitor in and had discord running on it is when it started. I ended up having to disabled GPU acceleration in Discord and it instantly stopped.

yeah, it's crazy how things that worked for so long have just become garbage. Overlays, gpu acceleration, Windows, drivers, etc.

Sludig Sludig make sure all your Mobo/hardware drivers are up to date. I had a windows 11 "patch" a few months back that resolved crashes as well.

You got the story somewhat wrong, aided by it being over my head. Friend never made changes, was remote over the phone and that was updating obscure drivers and the like. But I had also been mentioning arc and anticheat having documented problems by others that had the same system in other games seeking to interfere with it and because it is so deeply embedded not ready for casual user to purge them out. Just tarkov things... So I'm the end a clean wipe is still ideal yes.

Some of these things are completely new and only happened after the new card. Party of the cursed tower meme I tried to explain. Over 4 years I've had like 10 different distinct types of crafting and weirdness. Followed by something new.

Have you ever updated the bios?
Covered above yes, last June, they've only had one update since.

As the uninformed, I do wonder if there was any issues caused by my failed HDD I had plugged in, and then my first SSD failed. I partially recovered days on it and at one point was booting off the oldos on one of those old drives before going to the new one. Not sure if those could have changed something onboard the mobo or something arcane

I've never been able to just swap OS drives without doing a complete reinstall, likely your problem if I understood what you're saying correctly.
