Doesnt matter if the tech is good or not with those hardware reqs.

I thought one of the reasons nvidia wants to go dlss is they can gut the video cards of their horsepower and sell a cheaper ersatz because it's not trying to calculate more and more triangles anymore.

I've never been on the cutting edge of graphics cards with the game I play. But unless something comes out that is game changing I'm probably done buying a new one for a very long time.

At one time I had 480 volt 3 phase power here, not once did I say "Gee some day I can run a GPU with it". Stupid me I had to turned off.

Out of curiosity , why did you have 480 3ph and was it straight 480 or 480/277V?

It came with the house when I bouht it. The owner had some equipment in the shop he used. I used it for a while since I had acess to some industrial welding machines. I got a deal through the local power co-op since a good friend of mine his wife works there and her job is to deal with that and configure what a company needs for power and such. If I hadn't the minimum payment amount per month would be overwhelmingly too expensive. I paid the guy that takes care of all that at one of the shops I do work for to take care of it. I'll do anything around a house/shop but I hire or get someone that knows it well to t ake care of it.

You can use rotary phase convertors to avoid using 3 phase. I do know if you have 3 phase buying used equipment like mills, lathes, and welding machines is much much cheaper to buy 3 phase if you can manage. Lot of people looking for something nice and used that isn't 3 phase, 3 phase is out there used everywhere. I switched to rotary phase convertors for my mill and lathe and have no use for it for a welding machine. If I can't weld it I take it to one of the shops I do work for.

Half of my computer was used parts and I’ve had no issues.
I made sure to buy a brand new psu and mobo and fans but almost everything else was second hand.

We're in the weeds here but the only time I've used rotary phase converters was for elevators in apartments that were usually 240/120V 1P. It was deemed cheaper than bringing 3 phase power to the job. They were expensive as hell (to me). Keep in mind I don't pay the power bills for that stuff, I just was in charge of the install.

Phase convertor to power my mill or lathe or nothing compared to the price of getting 3 phase in a residential area is nothing.

Derail over. I'm sure data sites are sucking up all the power soon anyway.

Tech market is usually forward looking. Sho knows until it actually is put into action. At this point could be like cold fusion that gets announced someone has found it, over and over. A lot of gaming micro transactions now are fear of missing out, well the market is too. We shall see. But if it reduces the demand on memory and stuff I'm all for it, not putting my money into it, but I'm all for it.

Production has already been bought out for years, that hasn't changed. An algorithm breakthrough is neat but that simply means their hardware can do more not that they need less of it.
