This movie is great. I was having flashbacks from my crazy fucking ex from college.

I had a hard time with the first fifteen minutes but after that it went places. Awkward guy is awkward, likes the wrong girl, has douchebag friend, etc.

The actress playing Nikki fucking carries though.

Zach Cregger vibes. I'm trying to summarize what that is exactly tho...

A very sharp and well executed horror that doesn't take itself too seriously?

Extremely well executed with an amazing performance. Doesnt waste a second of screentime either, shit just keeps getting crazier every minute. Barker made the exact movie they wanted to make and you could feel the studio just let him run with it

They may not be known for bringing in billions but it's tough to go broke on the back of well executed, efficiently told horror stories. I was really fond of A24's Talk to Me a few years ago or even the first Megan. I'll take all the competent 90ish minute horror flicks the studios want to make.

You know what Obsession doesn't do? It doesn't have a scene where our main character searches up wishes on Not Google during the second act to spoon the audience a bunch of exposition to explain what they've already figured out. So many horror movies do that and it's lame every single fucking time. Even good ones will trash their own pacing to fuck around on the internet for a couple of minutes.
