It's not about being lazy or lacking creativity, it's about creating a product with known brands that allows the marketing department to make a more precise revenue forecast aka minimizing risk. I'll let you decide if it's better or worse...

On the up side, bad and/or generic ideas can make for great movies, and brilliant pitches can turn to shit when written and filmed poorly. One of the funniest comedies of the last few years is, after all, 21 Jump Street!

as soon as Hollywood realizes there is no market for these needless remakes using all female casts, the plug will get pulled on all these crap fests.
