I made the 2nd mining base and goddamn it is way more efficient. Go fuck off for like 40mins exploring, come back, I have 1000 ores and coal sitting there. I made the base near Azurobe on the map there's a spawn with like 5coals 5ores on top of each other and it's great. Just wish there was a way to automate queuing salads with the components instead of having to go there everytime and queue some more, I guess I should make a bigger setup in my main base and just grind out a thousand salad and then forget about it.

But yeah basically at this point I don't have to care about ores or coal anymore, I also setup a sulphur quarry there for when the nodes are down so also getting that. I just need to figure out where quartz is for the next part.

Sadly while I decided I'd be progressing toward the next main story where I assume quartz is, I instead spent about 6hours just fucking around exploring random islands and collecting 5 of each pets as I go, and so I've made almost no progress at all in that direction.

Last time I played I built this. It was incredibly tedious to build and the oil pumps are so fucking loud that I ended up deconstructing them and rebuilding them on a different island but once it was finally built it was pretty incredible. AFAIK all the stacking tech still works in 1.0

I cannot make sense of what is supposed to or not supposed to happen in dedicated servers when you log off.

Left for 1 hour almost exactly to cook dinner, log back in and all of my food is gone and Pals are all starving? We're talking like 500+ salads and 800 pancakes, literally an impossible amount of food. But also no time has progressed in game? Nothing mined, no egg progress, just all my food 'eaten' 50x faster than it should be and a bunch of Pals standing around starving doing nothing.

What kind of a fiend lets his pals starve.

I guess the incubators and the breeding farm are locked behind tower bosses in exchange for all of the workstations no longer being locked, so you wouldn't be breeding up a faster nitewing or vanwyrm even if you were crazy enough to do so.

Sky Islands should have some kind of kill barrier underneath them IMO stopping you from entering without doing an event or portal. Getting up there early just breaks progression completely. Just walking around picking up Ancient Spheres from the ground is busted.

Then don't go up there.

Man there's really a bunch of stuff to do in this game. I had been progressing pretty quickly but hit a wall in terms of gear so started putting some effort into my base stuff because once you get to 40-50 range you start needing serious amounts of ingots for everything. Had to setup an oil base which in itself is a huge fuckery since the buildings are so expensive so you first need to save up a bunch of mats, get one extractor going, then can add more over time but then once you have too many you need to redo your electric stuff cause the small ones just don't do enough and the big ones cost a ton of mats. And then all that oil has to be crafted, which is slow as fuck until you unlock the next forge that needs a bunch of the initial mats, and then you want multiple pals working on the forge at the same time so have to redo the base etc.

Ended up switching the server stuff to allow more than 3 bases, solo it felt super restrictive. Main base needs like 2 guys on farming, at least one guy on transporting, 3 guys on smelting and 1 guy on electricity, plus the power couple to craft faster, leaves very little room for stuff like ranching or mining. Kept my mining base as just that(could probably add some stuff there though as I have some free slots), the oil base needs basically the full base just to supply electricity, then made a secondary base next to my initial with some ranching to start producing large amounts of organs cause every recipe lategame seems to want some of this shit(especially lightning organs goddamn).

Overall spent probably 5-6hours yesterday just doing base stuff, which I didn't really have to do before that other than setting up the mining base(and even that was faster). Meanwhile I haven't been exploring much, ran into Frostallion, figured I'd try it since the 55 bosses weren't so hard so what would 5 levels do. Well it does a lot, it fucking kicked my ass. It has a lot of hp(like Jormuntide had 5k-ish but Frostallion has 20k+). I assume at this point I'm supposed to actually improve my pals(my own damage is like close to 0 I haven't found a weapon upgrade in forever and will probably upgrade to a white weapon but the ammo crafting costs are crazy on lategame weapons) but I have yet to touch on breeding stuff, I'll dedicate a base to it later but figure I should progress the story and kill next boss to get the better incubator first.

Also I have been a retard and not using Mercy Ring because I missed the interaction with mounts, only noticed when I saw a streamer do it. I tested the ring early but since my pals still killed the mobs it felt useless, but pals don't kill stuff if you're mounted on them, so you can blast stuff with like beams or big power balls and leave them at 1hp for easy captures. Changed everything, it was a chore to get them low without killing them before because my pals were too strong but now I can beam 3 mobs next to each other then spam balls to grab all 3 at once it's great.

Did some more testing with persistent servers. Your Pals absolutely do work while you're offline if you have a dedicated server set up, but they tend to have pathing issues it seems like? I rebuilt my base to be way more open and removed all the structures/walls I had built, and they do a lot better now while I'm not logged in. You really need to manually adjust their AI too, like disabling item hauling on everything except 1 or 2 dedicated pals, otherwise anyone that can haul will stop what they are doing to pick up a single chicken egg from the ranch or something, and they spend all their time traversing rather than working.

You definitely need way more food than you think you do to let the base run on its own overnight though. With 15 pals deployed they are eating ~300 minestroni a night, and that's with the frozen feed box - without the refrigerated one you'll need even more due to spoilage.

It also doesn't generate quite as many resources as you'd think. Nodes seem to have some kind of respawn penalty while you're offline, so if you have an ore base they aren't harvested 8 nodes a day or however many spawn there, feels like they only respawn every 2-3 days? The logging/ore base objects all work just fine though, even if their production rate isn't amazing.

Optimizing job priority is standard for games with a priority system, and if you get some properly skilled (and condensed) workers you won't have to care about offline production anymore. Although the food production does sound kinda fucked.

Condensing is super rough for certain Pals though. Needing to catch 64 of the same pal to level up to 4 stars is a wild ask, especially for the later game Pals that have better work skills.

Ain't no way I'm spending the time to catch 116 or however many it takes blazamuts or anubis or whatever to max out my mining efficiency.

Results from my base running ~12 hours overnight:

28,000 stone
360 hardwood
1700 sulfur
9000 coal
320 pal fluids
400 high quality cloth

You can get around this by buying the rank up fruits from the dog coin vendor located at the desolate church. Costs about 700ish dog coins to rank a pal up from zero to max doing it that way and you can farm the coins fairly easy once you have access to the fishing magnets.

The game has always been easy to cheese by flying into areas that are too high level for you normally, I'm surprised they didn't protect those islands with anti-air towers like they did with Feybreak though. Even back in the barebones first EA release of the game you could fly around the volcano area to pick up eggs that would hatch into pals you couldn't capture at your level. The same was true of any of the higher level zones but scorching eggs were the easiest to see by far.

what will this run "okay" on. i've had my kid playing/homeschooling on an old laptop of mine with an 800 series nvdia card. I need to get her a new computer at some point for her schooling and i wouldn't mind getting one she could play things like this on it.

what are the system requirements like? can it run on generations' old nvdia cards? will it run on a 2000 series? or a 3000 okay on a laptop? heh
