Sounds like we're doing the same thing. My breeding base is rolling and I've got the Grintale and Dynamoff tiered up, but that reminds me I need to make the Braloha saddle. Also the Broncherry Aqua gives a 45-55% chance that every egg you pick up is an alpha, which you'll want for your combat pals...

I haven't looked at what is "meta" and whatever is meta is probably too hard for me to capture but my first good passive combat crew is going to be:
Ophydia: Gives player soak ability (Is buildable at level 72 or 74 which I didn't know before I made this plan, I'm level 66 now...)
Elgrove Cryst: Gives player ability to freeze soaked pals
Muffly: Increased chance to catch frozen pals
Yakumo: Duplicates pal passives

And then whatever flyer, possibly Beakon which changes player attack to electric, but I'll probably just get a fast flyer and stick with it. If I'm in tough content I might swap one of the above with Silvegis which I just tiered up this morning and haven't really tried (Improves shield). I figure that'll help me catch some of the tougher Pals with great stats.

There's a bunch of good info out there about Pals but somehow nobody has made a 1.0 spreadsheet that nerds can use to sort their own data. So I combined a bunch of different info into
Code:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XRG_iO0K1IUvkCJs39uQOXjXTR74wLdYi3w5Z18XGFY/edit?usp=sharing

You want both Broncherry, they stack since they're different passives, maxed out they add up to 100% alpha which is what I mentionned.

On team making yeah there's a lot of combos like that but some bosses have high resists to status so I haven't been too keen on doing a specific build like that. I settled on just doing more generic buffs with Orserk(150% atk for you+pal if you stack the buff which you can have permanently on with drone/terraprisma), Celesdir Noct for 80% active pal atk but the pal loses hp(balanced out with Immortality or Vampire), Lapure for 50% cd with a high cooldown skill setup and then a flying mount for general play or the 30% elemental dmg supports for whatever the main DPS is. I mostly like that this setup works for everything so I don't have to swap full teams for vulns and stuff.

nice, I didn't know both broncherries stacked. And yeah that's a good point about bosses having resistance to status.

Right now I'm doing pretty well with

The Aegis Shield from Shieldbro (Silvegis) is huge. I wasn't sure if the 80% damage reduction was true or not, but it is.

I just beat my first Legend, going to try to replace Ferocious in the above list of passives with it. I just got a Mutation pal with

which is pretty nice.

Mounts need to unlock whenever you capture the actual Pal. Captured Jetragon at 49 and then updated like a dumbass and now its 79 womp womp.

That's kinda exactly why they don't. There's already a lot of shortcutting available so imo it's fine to have some things that can't be obtained until proper progression.

I just discovered you can condense pals you've already condensed and get a 100% return on the condensation... I've been holding out on condensing so many pals because I didn't want to waste the pals on a pal that's missing a passive or has a bad IV.

Mutant eggs keep winning

View attachment 634583
Tbh i don't really like the mutant egg mechanic. Every other part of the breeding game you have a significant amount of agency and earn it through player choice and effort. The mutation is just a lottery ticket that becomes an inevitable shortcut toward powerful pals. I've hatched like thirty mutant eggs, and i could probably just ignore the entire breeding system and just hatch whatever eggs en mass and end up with a decent team with zero thought.

The endgame definitely isn't difficult enough to warrant trying to breed specific 3-4 rainbow talent Pals. You'll spend dozens of hours on it and it just doesn't matter. It's also weird how biased it is towards water Pals because fishing regularly produces 2+ rainbow talent parents to breed with. Much, much more difficult to get other Pal types with any kind of good traits aside from the ones that always have Legend.

I've really stopped trying to make a perfect Palladius or whatever, and instead focused all my breeding on mass production so I can max out my base Pals for work efficiency. I'm just getting to the pyroxite or whatever the final bar is and the work requirement to make that stuff is NUTS.

It doesn't benefit water pals specifically, since these can just be bred into whatever, what it does is make breeding exclusive pals like legendaries, tower bosses and such much harder cause they can only breed with themselves, so you need to breed a ton to get the traits to popup naturally. For common pals you can breed via a formula, then you can transfer all these fishing traits easily, you just combine the water pal with another, then with another and so on until you reach the pal you want while passing down the trait. The fishing pals are a great way to just get all the rare passives saved up.

Means it's much harder breeding perfect exclusive, but usually they have some stronger stats, passives and exclusive skills to make up for it.

There is also endgame difficulty stuff to make use of all this breeding, the hard mode towers and then the raids(although the raids are more stupid and are mostly about breeding 15 clones of perfect pals for each fight's phase which sounds tedious as fuck tbh). For normal difficulty, none of this shit is needed though and you can kinda walk through the main story with anything, or even no pal if you get the strong weapons.

But yeah after making the perfect breeding setup I made some base pals. Not the full set, I'm still using garbage gathering/planting and watering pals and just normal miners/transporters cause that's not too important, but I made a Sekhmet and Bellanoire with full setup for crafting and a Jormuntide Ignis+Frostallion for the forge. Makes a huge difference. For the other stuff though it doesn't feel that useful, I'm still using salads and mining is like an afterthought at this point I have 20-30k of each ore and don't even need that much. Even when I unlocked Soralite I made a mine but it's not super useful other than just having something to do, I went and mined it manually to get all the Soralite I needed for gear/buildings in like 5mins. Manual mining is so quick in this.

Yea I'm not sure how to feel about the raids. I tried the Ryu guy or whatever his name is and it said it's level 55, but he oneshot all 15 pals I deployed about 5 seconds after he spawned, and they were all at least level 65.

If the expectation is to field an entire array of 15-20 fully 4-star Pals with good perks then I'm just skipping the raids, way too much time investment imo.

Raise the pal per base cap in the server settings and stack your buildings. You don't have to go completely insane but doubling the cap to 30 and building a 7-8 high stack of breeding farms (and a couple stacked ranches) makes a lot of the shit you're complaining about much less of a headache.

For normal ones I've only done the first 2 and could get them done normally, but yeah it gets harder, and then there's a hard mode version at 80 too which you are expected to have fully condensed armies with good passives, good IVs and element matching, it looks extremely tedious to setup. If you use your own base(make a base specifically for it though), you can have pals manning turrets on top and it seems like you can cheese the normal modes this way, although it still requires building a ton of turrets+a lot of rockets and they'll still destroy part of your bases.
