Right now when I auto-allocate for the frost expedition (the first one that gives the cores) I only get to like 175k power, like 6x% reward expectancy. The one I let run this morning only got me 1 core (need like 5 each for a couple of the accessories I had wanted to craft). Not the end of the world if I can't make them for a bit longer, though.
You can always grind the alpha mini bosses on the map to inflate your score but it just kinda raises on its own as you progress and catch newer zones pals. I think the ice one was also the one for me that had a big jump in power and I dropped from ~100% to like 50% until a bit after. But yeah you can kinda put off buying the things for a while, in the last zone it's really easy to get cores as I mentionned(like you get 50-100 for 10mins of grinding) so I wouldn't bother with the expensive stuff that serves little purpose like the shield upgrade that need 30 cores and barely make a difference. Mostly what you want to use cores on is the last forge and the recycler(once you get to the last zone), but you can use some here and there on stuff that's like 5 or so without much of an issue, the expeditions for the last few zones will give more and more and since you'll likely spend a while doing these, you'll build up a good amount over time.

Also I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible to breed Orserks to have immortal unless they are from a mutant egg.

This little guy sniffed out a Demon God + Diamond Body Orserk on the first capture, lol.

Like a lot of things you flip from being bottlenecked by cores to them being useless trash super quick. This is my haul from my expedition today, those 25 cores will never get used for anything.

It stops mattering entirely what perks pals have at the endgame because you have such an infinite amount of implants available.

It's all about mass factory farming to condense the good IVs, then figure out their passives later via implants.

The most important passive by a factor of 10 isn't even one of the rainbow ones, it's just boring old serenity and you can apply that to infinite pals.

What do you do to farm implants? I'm starving for some immortals.

The ancient recycler thing, it converts all the doodads you pick up in the world tree in to random loot - ore, star fruits, the awakening crystals, implants, etc.

Slaughter world tree bosses on a loop. Dump everything into recycler. Got Idiosyncratic on my first batch.

Alright done with the game. Yesterday I killed all the raid bosses on normal difficulty without having to do anything fancy, just dump my 15 strongest pal and my own party and fight, it wasn't that bad although I have 0 interest in doing it on hard mode. Then started grinding the arena, god this shit is slow. It starts pretty decent but every rank up you gain less and less points, had to look up a good setup to do Legend fights afk, used my Orserk+2x Dandilords, dumped some implants on them to get them done quickly(Immortal Demon God Diamond Body and Serenity). Can use 3 of them but Orserk looked more reliable, didn't bother breeding an arena specific one and used my normal one instead. Anyway you can just afk and you win most matches. Still even then it took a few hours of afking and requeuing every couple minutes, very tedious.

Then I had to redo all the effigy achievements since they're bugged, I assumed they'd fix them faster but they didn't so I figured I could just get them again. Atm they only count if you have the effigies in your inventory, if you turn them in at the statue they won't count. The key to do it easily is to upload some good Pals to the global pal box thing so you can use them in a new server. Grab the fastest mount(my Eidrolon), a condensed Nox for the detection skill, a Lapure for cooldown(tbh likely optional but I already had one since I use it in my main team), A Sekhmet to get all the crafting stuff done and a Panthalus if you plan on going to the world tree(no quest/boss required, just need the pal). Start the world on random so you get every saddle unlocked instantly and then just do a little bit of prog. For QoL I grabbed the Thermal and Heat shirts from their ruins and crafted them(have to prog to the forge to make ingots) and then used a map website to just grab all the effigies, with Nox when I wasn't sure where they were. Took like two hours or so? Pretty quick with a god mount. Also reduced stamina consumption in server settings so basically perma sprint flight speed.

Ok trying to set up an actual base and get past pal metal is a pain in the ass. Everything takes a shitload of grinding for all the drops and time smelting/building and i'm only even trying to smelt plasteel atm, takes them an eternity per bar (maybe partly cause I haven't dumped all my skill manuals into whatever pals yet cause didn't want to waste em early).

Beat the sky island this morning, tried Panthalus immediately after and got pooped on. Need to level some electric pals I guess.

I beat Panthalus yesterday with a mechanical bow and a ground-based pal that could barely hit him.
Same, lol.

Panthalus is kind of a mess, but there's really only one fight that is like that in Palworld, everything else leverages the core gameplay of pal fighting.

Yeah mid to late game there's a shift in base building. You can brute force it(by either doubling/tripling up on the crafting stations for example or just afking through it), get better pals(there's a hard limit to that though) or start the breeding process to get all your pals max condensation which makes them significantly better at all base stuff. Getting pals with 10 fire 10 ice or alpha Sekhmet for handicraft makes a big difference even without further investment, and then you can also breed stuff like Remarkable Craftmanship + Artisan + Work Slave to make them even better. Don't even have to use any book really, but does take some time.

Yeah each level of work suitability is a huge , expential increase in speed, so the game really stalls out if you don't level your pals.

Skill books are hard to come by, but the game is trying to get you to use the breeding / catching mechanics to get better pals with better passives and condense them.
