Any chance you have a link to the relevant info everyone shared? My almost daughter just started playing this and I'm pretty sure I turned off chat and invites, and she only plays it when I'm watching, but I'd like to be sure I'm doing anything possible to restrict who can potentially contact her in game.
It's post 10,157 on this thread. I tried linking it but it won't work.

So has the electric scooter epidemic taken over your town and neighborhood too? Every kid aged 10+ around here has one it seems like... probably going to get my daughter one for her birthday this summer. Any recommendations?

I see kids riding them all over my neighborhood, yea. But I would check the incidents/safety issues - they are really not safe, I'd get your kid a pedal bicycle, just my $0.02. The scooters go too fast and are too hard to stop/turn at speed.

Similar scooter trend here as Falstaff Falstaff . I though about it for a bit and decided not to because I live in a hilly area. With the tiny wheel diameters the brakes on scooters just aren't up to the job, and if they could stop quickly that just pitches you off. The only problem is my daughter is 11 and still short enough her legs don't fit a full sized bike and I don't want to buy her one she's going to outgrow in a year.

I recommend getting an electric bike or the little electric dirt bikes instead. How old is your kid? The scooters are just unsafe, multiple kids wiped out hard on those in my neighborhood, one girl broke her wrist. Everyone switched to the dirt bikes now and we haven’t had a single wreck.

We have a doofus in our neighborhood that sits on a milk crate on his electric scooter and doesn't stop at intersections. I'm waiting for the day he gets killed. I'm with Cad Cad

I wouldn't get kids an electric anything because we sit in front of the computer and on our phones enough as it is, pedaling a little isn't going to kill them.

Our neighbors got their 3 children electric scooters for Easter this year. 1st weekend and 1 of them broke their arm. We have plenty of pedal bikes, roller-blades, skateboards, etc, and I even built the kids a few ramps. If my kids are going to break their bones they have to work for it at least.

She's going to be 12; she does have a bike already so thanks for the suggestion on that. Will do some more research, especially safety/recall related.

It’s the wheels being too small, plus they’re standing and holding on to the steering wheel. Any crack, rock, curb, etc jerks the handle and they faceplant or sprawl forward. We even had one mom faceplant when she hit a little hole in the road and the front wheel just stuck in it.

I wish the scooter thing here was a thing. Here, everyone has golf karts, small ones and ones with like 3 damn bench seats on them. They all go under the speed limit and cause traffic to slow down and I wish they would just make them illegal.

There are some that have fast ones, and they let their little kids fly up and down the streets with them. A few days ago, the wife saw one that was being driven by a kid who couldn't have been 12, with another kid around the same age, holding a baby wearing nothing but a diaper. No adults to be seen and they musta been doing 35 down our street.

Those usually only do 20-25. You’re just getting old and grumpy.

Where are golf carts street legal?
In my small town neighborhood in the middle of Dallas there's a bunch of people in golf carts or UTV's taking their kids to school or going to the local stores. I think they look ridiculous but people like them.
