Abyss is a fucking FPS destroyer. Abyss + Corruption = PLEASE STOP NO MORE DENSITY. The idea to give abyss mobs all a green glowing aura around them was perhaps unwise.
Deadeye isn't meta because it's the only thing that works, it's meta because it's the most popularized by streamers. We've got people doing Stormweaver Arc and fucking shit up. Lich's doing Blackflame stuff and destroying entire screens. I'm Blood Mage phys spells at the moment and it's decent. I can't speak for Warrior archetypes as we've got none of those, but basically every caster including minions are blasting easily once they fix resists and get a greater jeweler's orb.
The new top dog build will probably appear in a week or so, so if you're having trouble with Deadeye or not enjoying it you could pump the breaks until then. They also have a lot of fixes of things they probably need to get done (like Abyss's eating POI's, quest markers incorrectly showing done/not done, and other stuff).

I did monk the first time I played(back in Jan iirc), the one with the bell and lightsaber staff. Was pretty cool. Wanted something different this time.
I might try something different after this ranger. Will see. I need guides to follow as I dont know the game well enough to just go on my own without quitting early cause I bricked a build.

What a difference a weapon makes......
I happened to get a decent upgrade from a merchant in A4, added 1k to my in-game sheet dps, and when I got to the A4 final boss, he got steamrolled. Now in interludes with like 30 fire / 25 cold / -10 lightning res, lol.
I did put the bow I used from the guild stash back in it in case anyone else can use it.
With how much difference a good weapon upgrade makes, wonder if there's a way they could code the game to have certain campaign bosses drop usable upgrades for whatever weapon you're using the first time you kill them?
Probably has ways to exploit it, but it could absolutely help newcomers that are lacking damage and end up giving up when they get stuck at a certain boss.

That's crazy. Was trying to look up historical info on POE.ninja but it looks like they only present front end interface for 2 leagues ago (and all the auxiliary leagues that came with them) and you have to download the data to get older then that. I'm wondering what POE1s most "meta"/FOTM league was. I think it was probably deadeye TS? Did it ever approach 40% though?

Drybear has been doing a youtube show on this every week since POE2 launched and I know this isn't to what you were referring but he mentioned that Stormweaver approached these levels at original launch. I went Gemmling Legionaire at launch, didn't play in .2, so of course based on hype I went Deadeye this time. Reportedly 80.x? % of players in open trade softcore were playing Deadeye; all the caveats apply, early, hype, no melee, etc but man they need some balancing patches to up other builds if everyone is see-sawing like that. 80% of players aren't playing a single ascendancy due to Dominance, that's desperation.

You can open a performance overlay as well in the options. I was having massive frame dips and nothing was helping til I noticed the ping to their servers was spiking like crazy. It was tied to my frame dips somehow.

In maps on minion build. Would have loved to go monk or amazon but balance is still all over the place. White mobs can still randomly make even minion build backpedal while some orange bosses melt in seconds. Minion build hard carries 99% of the game, then you get a heal boss that’s literally impossible without completely respeccing. The balance actually feels worse than launch somehow and the pace of updates is glacial. I want to love this but it’s too much “good with a catch” game design. Sprinting should not hard cc you, a mild knock back maybe… why give us good with a sour kicker? Act 4 looked awesome and I’m somewhat interested in the story, even the interludes were neat but then you hit maps… and all interest evaporates. At this pace I’ll be shocked if full release hits before early 27, which seems nuts for an arpg dev time.

man, on poe 1 i played a lot of SRS, and i had the bee micro that turned your skulls to bees so you could fucking see the game. this game REALLY needs this. i'm using galvanic shards and it puts out a a bukake of bright lights. hard to see the floor piss to step out of the way. I'd pay for a micro that made the effect muted. i see the only effect available turns it red...it may be darker and more muted but not by a lot.
the tamed beast is awful for it too. it puts out ice patches on the ground with a sound efect and bright flash, adn those patches hide the floor. why won't they let me pay real dollars to make effects either nothing where possible, or very small/dark/innocuous.
