I did roll my eyes a little when Jonathan explained how Chain support wouldn't just do less damage now on the first hit making it all upside and no downside. It took two years but we made it. Players don't want baked in downsides on the most basic of basic supports.

The best thing I heard is Crit chance from the passive tree is completely gone and they are fucking chance on the jewels to, I don’t know why but I hate all the CoC lovers and their stupid builds.
If they have a design space problem with crit chance(they do), it definitely needs addressing. I think this was the worst way to address it. The passive tree in PoE2 was already way too weak and this makes it worse. Player power was already skewed heavily towards items and this will make it worse.

Unless, were there other changes made that counterbalance this?

passive tree had massive changes done to it
Claims from the same idiots that removed life from the passive tree but left %ES for multiple leagues in a row? Or is there a passive tree preview somewhere?

It's concerning much footgunning is going on in PoE2.

Just dudes making games. Why do these assholes constantly win over my time multiple times a year when I'm trying to play other games!

As usual I'm fucking hype. Not even mentioning their POE1 reveals which I'm super pissed about cause I'm playing WOW Forever right now and will most definitely miss league start cause I told myself I won't play until I have a max level in WOWF.

They acknowledged jewels are incredibly powerful. One of the fixes is to change their locations making them part of wheels. I think people wanted the nodes themselves to be better rather than now having to take wheels to get jewels.

Lots of QoL for the atlas. Can now jump to a league mechanic when it appears instead of having to run 10 maps just to get to it. Commanders will run maps for you in real time. Can also jump to other castles owned by your faction.

Two of the things working against the tree were the fact that jewels and crit were the most powerful things on it. So every end game build became a game of pathing to as many jewel and crit nodes as possible. They still have work to do on the tree but this will make people have to put a little more thought into their pathing again instead of playing the jewel highway.

Kingsmarch was one of the worst PoE1 leagues, even if you discount it lasting almost a year. It's a shame they're deciding to reuse this mechanic.
They're literally tying it in with QoL? Do you seriously think their Heroes of M&M looks bad or are you just bitching for any reason right now?

I hope that's where they end up. The passive tree pathing puzzle is one of the best parts of character planning.

Bolting a bunch of daily upkeep chores on to PoE1 created an experience that was not always welcome. There's a big difference between wanting to grind a few more maps before bed and needing to grind a few more maps to keep your mappers and farmers going. The league mechanic for this looks cool as hell but as it is all powered by gold there's a good chance you'll have to engage in dedicated gold farming.

The QoL with Kingsmarch mappers and shippers was never the issue. They were uninteresting mechanics that use mobile game incentives to keep you playing instead of actually interesting gameplay.

Has that been addressed or are you going to be incentivized to login every so often to direct your Commanders to new maps?

What QoL was in KM? I might be missing something but everything added was player power/looting.

In the HOMM addon you'll be able to recruit commanders that will be able to complete maps, which in POE2 means pathing. You can have up to 3 commanders so able to plan routes 3 directions + plus your current thing you're doing. That's pretty massive IMO.

I mean the login to get incentives I get, but I wouldn't consider it mobile unless it was time gated. What's the difference between logging in to AFK farm stuff vs logging in to run maps? They're both getting you stuff. The only argument I can see is that you have to keep up with it to keep your Div/hr going to remain competitive but tbf that doesn't really bother me. I'll never be at the top 1% in this game and slow and casual seems to work out just fine for me.

This is my biggest problem with Jonathan as a game designer.

He basically saw the Traits system from Fallout and thought it was the smartest thing ever - "IF IT HAS AN UPSIDE IT MUST ALSO BE ACCOMPANIED WITH A DOWNSIDE!! GENIUS!!"

Perhaps I misinterpreted your original point. What did you mean by "tying it in with QoL"?

Arbitrary's post said it better than mine. If they can avoid that feeling, good.

Commanders here solve a few issues. First issue is how tedious running plain maps to get to a new point of interest can be whether it be a citadel or league mechanic. They'll also let you burn through all your waystones since once you reach a certain level, you always have more waystones then you can run. They do this in real time so you just set it up before you go to bed or work or when you're grinding something else. It looks like a purely optional mechanic as well, so if you don't like it, don't use it.

QoL is the ease of accelerated progress of the atlas in getting to places you want to go. Also it looks like a single pane for management which is already better then KM. I'll admit KM wasn't my favorite either, I usually always skip the mapping portion of that.
