I don't know how much I agree with the loot slippery slope postulation. That said, I don't play this type of game for "juicing". I will actively change my playstyle to avoid trading and the economy because fuck that shit. I haven't felt like they give away too much loot.

BUT my recent experience with LE 1.2 has shown me that Neversink does an *awesome* job with hiding away a lot of the ugly aspects that come with "too much loot". I like that LE has an in game filter. I don't like setting it up.

All you ever had to do post about 3.21 was do one rare blight map. And then turn off your loot filter. That's all it takes to understand how much loot there REALLY is. We're SEEING somewhere between 1/2 at even CAMPAIGN LEVELS to like 1/50th or less in the strictest filters. There's a fuck ton of loot.

Next time you feel comfy in red maps and are running some strict neversink filter, edit it and put it ALL boot types. You'll understand how much we're getting because his filter at that level only shows 3 base types. I made that mistake once trying to fish for some attribute movement speed boots and didn't care about the base. It was like 10-20 rare boots a map alch n go.

LE filters take maybe 10 minutes to set up and hone. They are insanely easy to tweak and dial in. I'm surprised to hear you, in particular, say you don't like setting it up. Its exactly what I'd expect you to like.

Its by far the best loot filter in any ARPG by a mile.

I don't disagree that the filter itself is relatively easy to use and can be ~10m with a few caveats. If you play without a build, the loot problem presents itself far before you've settled on even something approaching a build. Mathil talked about this on one of his recent videos, so I won't repeat that. But it is a detriment to the overall system because the rest of the game kinda pushes to play whatever you feel like.

That said, you know I don't really do that(play without a build). The other caveat is that if you know too much about the game and what drops you might need, you can easily spend far more than 10m tuning your filter. I'm playing a VK autobomber and I've been through my entire filter twice today because I switched from Hammer -> Smite and then again from Anomaly -> Symbols of Hope.

It just kinda feels like busywork for a problem that they made. I do like build planning but I like doing it outside of the game. Once I'm in game, it's time to kill shit. I haven't found letool's filter creator to be satisfactory, so filter tuning takes away from killing shit time.

The only way to solve what you are describing is to turn the game into a loot desert. Inevitably, anything you *don't want* becomes something you don't want to see. It doesn't matter if it's 10 items or 100 items.

It feels more like 1/1000 or something like that at some point, like when accidentally hitting alt crashes the game.

And then you get PoE2. A lot of people like loot explosions, myself included. PoE1 needs to just embrace it, let players juice and blast. I'm kinda losing hope for GGG as a company though at this point, they might be spiraling seeing people leaving the company and the leaks. If Mark leaves it's over.

ARPGs are gamble machines. Its all about that gamba. The illusion of cranking the handle needs to happen often or it needs to payout big. Usually the best is a balance between the two. POE2 hasn't found this balance imo. I guess if you like extremely grindy shit you could make the argument that the drought makes the payoff feel better. That's a totally valid argument but at my age and time commitment to video games I can't abide that philosophy... man.

then difference is Poe is like high stakes poker, where as Poe 2 is akin to a smoke and oxygen tank filled room of slot machine corpses. They’re both gambling, but one just feels like you’re thinking more.

for example I made this super nice pair of 35 movespeed boots in Poe, but the only ‘strategy’ that went into it was finding a pair with fractured speed(always cheaper than fracturing yourself it seems), then spamming chaos. In the end I got lucky but was somehow very unsatisfying. In poe1 I would have spent 20 minutes replanning on craftofexile, figuring out my best fossil combo, figuring out what I’m ok to craft on etc etc. still would have required luck but I’d be able to better fool myself into thinking my smarts let me make this.

Anyone know of a decent private league that is running Phrecia ascendancies? I was hoping for sentinel(I want to herd some cows), but I'm not picky. I might even do sirgog's, but he's running gauntlet mods.

I'm assuming none of these are going to be advertised in the event box, which seems weird. How many people are going to get filtered out because they don't know how to find/join what they are looking for?

Allegedly in a stream today one of the Devs of another ARPG said Jonathan is leaving GGG after PoE2 officially launches. Gonna be hard for people to find a new scapegoat.
