Have you tried just getting any IAS 1.6 base claw or sword? Literally thats the only stat on it, high IAS. Its probably 4-5x as good as wings. The more AS on the main hand swing vs the crit on the offhand, doesnt the offhand speed kill the "feel"?

I tried abstracting so I could compare different weapons. Paradoxica, for example, is 2(double damage) * 1.56(attack speed) * 1.15(pen) * 6.5/5 = ~4.8. RWoE would be 1.375(MH attack speed averaged) * 1.35(base attack speed) * 13.2/5(OH crit averaged) * 1.1(DW attack speed) = ~5.4. A claw with T3 attack speed and crit would come in around 3.5.

Maybe it's incorrect to average out the MH and OH parts of REoW. And maybe DW attack speed shouldn't be included, but you're definitely using a shield with any other weapon.

The feel of the build was an issue, but not exactly as you're thinking. You get enough attack speed that it's difficult for you to tap a pack and not swing twice. The problem is that while bunny hopping around, I would frequently leap slam twice.

Via the same abstraction above, the second best league starting weapon is actually Foulborn Frostbreath. When I tried PoBing, the numbers were fine, but still quite a bit worse than RWoE. The lower part of the tree is ridiculous for dual wielding, block, and axes. I was struggling to find good nodes for Frostbreath. Swords would fare a bit better, but claws would be in an even worse situation.

I didn't really have any issues dual wielding the entire time as ele hit for the event. Didnt really struggle with anything until Eater/Exarch voidstones. Even red maps were mostly fine because as you said the bottom side of the tree is pretty silly for dual wield (and Aristocrat is silly for damage)

EDIT: forgot to check fortified in config first time.

This is where I wound up. I'm not a fan of the phys max hit, I think this event needed more than just 65/65 block.

Were you really cycling through 3 warcries? I'm not sure I see the point of Intimidating Cry. Why didn't you put Hits Can't Be Evaded on both weapons?

That's basically my day 2 character, I hit 90 and just stopped, wasn't interested in Phrecia after all. Intimidating Cry is for the movement speed in campaign. But I basically never actually used it. Can't put crafted affixes on full affix items.

Lots of things I hadn't actually put into the build yet, several useful skill gems could have been fit in, I had no rage which is substantial.

Looks like the MH More attack speed multi on the replica wings works a lot better than I thought it would. I'll probably end up using that in the future.

After playing a few different run throughs with it I'm having a hard time coming up with another skill/starting area that is even close to as powerful both offensively and defensively as ele hit bottom of tree.

Why did you model it with 3 different ele hit gems? Did you just want to see what each element's hit damage was on one screen vs having to use the dropdown?

I agree. After they nerfed corpse skills and left corrupting fever/cry to rot, I was having trouble finding a dirt cheap league starter. Which means this will be nerfed next league.

I come back to these builds months later, when the reasons for decisions have long left my brain. In this case, this is my way of modeling the random element of the skill without tricking myself into thinking Conductivity is good. It also shows that Volatility is a decent support.

I really like these new Breach unique rings they added, the ones that give aura effect per %increased damage of the same type. They let you reach some really nice damage/defense numbers for much cheaper than otherwise. This wouldn't be "cheap" but none of this stuff is particularly meta and would be relatively inexpensive to put together.

Now, to ponder whether Xevy is making a good faith argument that despite the evidence on this very page that I'm still enthusiastic about build theorycrafting, the game itself has changed deleteriously due to things like T17 affixes and PoE2.

If breach didn't have those fucking hives filling huge swaths of areas with obstructive ugly shit it would have been better received. If you're trying to speed through the campaign quickly it's all burden no benefit. When you get to mapping it can get in the way of or otherwise play no part in a number of farming strategies. I did a bunch of Ultimatum this league and the Trialmaster would commonly spawn surrounded by that shit forcing me to spend time on something I didn't want to spend time on. It gets in the way of Expedition, it gets in the way of Blight, etc. It can spawn all over a map's entrance so you start out getting camped.

I did a practice league start on Pohx's league up through red maps and then Phrecia to 92 or so and in those exact environments (naked, broke) Breach was able to shine. If it goes core and you can spend atlas passives to spawn multiple unstable breaches (the kill stuff in an expanding circle) like you could before while also blocking hives from spawning it would be fine. Fortresses could be itemized and able to be rolled, have an uber version of the boss, basic shit.

If it didn't go core at all or they reverted the entire Breach mechanic I wouldn't miss it.
