I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess they are making POE1 endgame a little bit more like POE2 endgame, where you socket generic maps into the atlas like waystones, except instead of a random infinite atlas it will just be the static atlas map for POE1.

so maps will not drop as a specific map anymore, they will just drop as a "map tier 3" and you can still roll it as normal, but then you socket it anywhere in the atlas that you currently have unlocked. This is actually the specific change i wanted to see when they overhaul POE2's endgame and I think this is the testbed for it.

For unique maps, I think they will just drop as unique tier whatever instead of a plain map, and you socket it in any of the unique map slots. The voidstones could unlock different sections of the map, like you might have to kill black star/infinite hunger to unlock tier 16s, and then you have to kill exarch/eater to unlock the ability to start dropping T17 maps.

Not sure if I like that. One of the worst things in poe2 is being forced to run shitty layouts. I’d be ok with this change if the whole atlas starts out unlocked and you can place the waystone anywhere you want.

Being able to better run the maps you want to run right away is going to really help smooth out league starts. If you hit a plateau or your starter needs more work than you expected you can put everything on hold and grind through a block of maps of the layout and tier you are comfortable with instead of choosing between pushing forward on progression or farming what you hate the least from the small pool of maps you have access to.

This "ground loot" problem feels astroturfed.

You convince poor tards that the reason they're poor is GGG's fault and then when the underlying loot gets boosted it has a expontential effect on big investment group play juicer gameplay.

I watched two videos of super juicers complaining about ground loot and then a third juicer doing a commentary video of those two videos (I skipped around that one) and it's really hard to have any sympathy for them when the video footage they've chosen to include is one mega loot explosion after another. That's what they really want. There were a few other short videos people did of a single T16 with a bunch of quant that dropped nothing on an alch and go and they're purposefully flawed. If you choose to do no investment no strategy mapping there is no loot and there hasn't been any loot for that the entire time I've played. I know this because that was me. I used to do things like take Wandering Path to get 100% chance for a connected map just so I could sustain no loot no strategy no investment maps. If the new league mechanic didn't hold your hand I had a tough time.

Pick some kind of strategy and play and there's loot. Not wanting to interact with any mechanics where you do the thing and the thing gives loot is tiny slice of the playerbase. I don't object to the existance of big juicer strats. Affliction was an A+. It was piles of juice. But don't try and repackage a deficit in big juicing strats (your problem) as my problem. I don't mind doing Expedition, Breach, Ultimatum, Heist, Ritual, Destructive Play, bossing, scouting report rerolls for Kirac beasts, harbies, etc to get loot. I'm fine doing the thing. I give no fucks that five risk scarab T17 barrel farming or titanic exile ritual smuggling got the axe.

Fortunately a total rework sidesteps these issues and a derpy community entirely. There's going to be a ton of new shit to experiment with versus taking a pass at existing scarabs to do existing content. I'm personally pretty excited about those astrolabs and how far they'll push stuff that I like to do that isn't all that great on it's own.

Lol, mamba nerf is brutal when paired with binos buff. I mean, I called it over buffed when they removed melee totems, just the timing is bad.

Don't really have anything to add, just agree completely and a simple react felt lacking.

Big nerf to tree is not accessible until act 6 which is usually when you should be getting 5 links anyways. No more weapon/quiver crafting is HUGE as everyone was making their weapons that way, especially slammers. I personally used it for shitting out fractured armor, but the weapon thing will certainly be a big complaint from some people.

The atlas thing looks good, I'm sure Chris is upset about it removing the soul of the game a bit, but it's fucking 15 years old so I think the easification at this point is fine. The fractured thing had everyone going "oh fuck no", but then they showed the nearly mandatory atlas node to just mash the same map 6 times instead of doing 6 different ones.

Int stackers got nerfed a few ways. That's fine. Golem stuff nerfed even more which I'm not sure was necessary at this point. Slammers got a nerf if they don't actually exert their attacks and even if they do it's a minor nerf. Guardian Big Bernie is permanent per zone (!!!!) big asking that since his existence. That's a huge buff for QoL AND survivability. Holy skills look some some potential there, I'll let Mathil deal with it. Greater skills are cool and they seem to be boss targeted which is a nice goal. T17's being dead is great because they were just brutal for some builds and it became more "what build can do any t17 mods" rather than "what mods can my t17 not do". Breach still has walls which never bothered me, but I guess 80% of people were playing projectiles or some shit or at least Reddit thinks they were.

New stuff looks cool. People are always 50/50 on "in-map" stuff, but if it's possibly doubling the stuff you already want to do then maybe the upset fraction will be much smaller this time around. Think the rusty weapons shit is a meh, the built-in supports is cool, but if it's a true gamble of like 1 out of 30 depending on the skill it could be pretty annoying. Especially with it being a mandatory level 20 gem. The Djinn stuff is just Shrines 2.0 to me. I thought it was a Legion rework but maybe it's Domination rework.

Overall a LOT going on. Patch notes weren't as extensive as I expected. Probably 50/50 buff nerfs to skills from what I gleaned. Think the new Reliquarian will be the GG starter once we see what they're working with.

Overall looks like mostly steps in the right direction. Should be an exciting league. I'd expect some big clunk though from early mirage stuff and maybe the coin stuff rolling stuff like unsupportable supports, but we'll see!

Yeah I guess Holy Relic of Convection stays around another league(even easier to get going with the lab changes). Pretty interested in dom blow myself, haven't played it in years.
