CW Summer Plans Include Comedies, BATB & Superman | KSiteTV

According to the link it looks like one of my favorite shows will be crossing the pond and starting July 30th on the CW. It sure took them a long time to find a network after finishing in England.

This is awesome. I absolutely loved the English version. Not only were Penn and Teller great, but the magicians they had on there performed some of the coolest and most entertaining magic tricks I've ever seen.

I can't find any info on whether it will be new episodes or not. Back in January one of them said they were close to a deal to show the UK ones in the US and then "maybe do some new ones".

Penn and Teller are awesome so I'll watch anything they're in.
What I hated about the Fool Us was that so often we never learned how the tricks were done, especially the great ones.

The guy that won with the sealed deck was absolutely ridiculous, I still have no idea about how he could have even started to do that. Penn's expression was absolute gold.

agree 100%, but I think that's part of the fun. It's cool seeing youtube videos of the tricks and seeing the armchair magicians dissecting the trick, especially when the conclusions they come to are not sure.

Yeah that was the best one.

Anyone got a youtube clip or the episode where the guy does the sealed deck trick? The only one I remember that fooled Penn and Teller was the guy with the 3 people eating / ordering different foods.

Yeah that one is good.

One interesting twist to the show is that their goal isn't to prevent Penn & Teller from being able to come up with a reasonable explanation to the illusion, their goal is to prevent them from guessing the right answer. So one meta-strategy that comes up is have a purposeful red herring that they will choose.

Of course this isn't too far off an ordinary illusion, because often they'll do the same thing and at the end they'll expose that 'flaw' as a red herring and impossibility and rip the explanation away from the audience. It's just with P&T they get one chance to make a guess.

Keep in mind that the American version *IS* the English version. They just edited it down a little for time reasons.

"I don't think there's a nicer thing you can do for a fellow magician than to use his knowledge to fool the heck out of him" - Raymond Teller.

I don't think they mind when that happens. Though I think I figured out the spreadwave trick (the one I posted).

Missed it, I hope it sticks around long enough for me to catch it. I like Magic, I like seeing how magic tricks are done, and I like Penn and Teller. There's almost no way this can suck.

But I really just wanted to come in here to say that my biggest brush with greatness is probably the time Teller spoke to me. I was at their show in vegas, they were doing a trick where they pretended to read my mind. I was supposed to pick a joke out of a book so Penn could guess what it was. Teller came up behind me and said, "Have you picked one yet?', and I was so shocked when I saw who it was, I pointed and showed it to him like an idiot.
