Alright so I have been gaming on PS5 Pro for a while now and I am blown away by how good this thing is to own right now. I had a One X last gen and I thought that was amazing when it came to the way it could enhance the performance and resolution of the console library, but this really takes that to the next level. What I love about PS4 Pro is how it doesn't seem to need "Pro enhancement" or any special treatment to do it's thing. I downloaded a bunch of games I got off PS+ as I installed a 4TB drive in it as well, and one of them that works as a great example of what it can do is Saints Row. Yeah, terrible game I know, but I remember it running like shit on my old launch spec PS5 and needing to have it on the high frame rate modes for it to run smoothly. Now I can have it on the high quality setting and because the frame rate was unlocked the game basically plays at 60fps like that with only moments where it slows down (probably due to shitty optimization). This sort of effect can be noticed all over, so long as a game doesn't have a locked frame rate you can play games that were never meant to be played on anything besides a launch spec PS5 on the quality settings and probably get as good of performance as you would have had with the frame rate modes.

IMO the way it can just improve the performance for just about any game makes this feel almost like having a gaming PC and being able to run just about any game on high settings with a good frame rate. It just seems to open up the entire library to feeling enhanced and the graphics and performance I have leaves nothing to be desired really in the way of improvements. I mean I have no clue why I would want a next gen console anytime soon with this as it feels like this gen has only just recently gotten to a good point when it comes to game variety, and new games take forever to develop. I mean I don't think there is much room for any sort of revolution over what this thing is capable of anytime soon and new consoles are feeling more and more like just buying a newer graphics card. With this it's like between the 6TB I have of combined internal storage along with the 2TB external SSD I have for PS4 games this just feels like the perfect all-in-one solution for playing any games from this and last gen. I honestly think this is the only home console anybody would really need and it's good enough right now to make me question the point in buying a new gaming PC, I really don't see how I'd be playing games any better than I am right now and can't think of much that could even take advantage of any extra performance over this right now.

You should talk to those guys in the general gaming thread right now.
I see so much bullshit being said about video games and related hardware these days, I am just over it. Seems like everyone has got their own taste and ideals and that's fine and to be expected. By now it's like I just have my own deep understanding and appreciation of video games and the related hardware and I really don't need to be arguing with other people about it. I like to share my takes, taste, and opinions with people on occasion but that's about it. If they want my advice cool, but it seems like most people just want to push their side of whatever.

It's like I have been really into collecting games and consoles in the past, I really developed my own taste in games, and my interest in gaming spans generations. There is no point in arguing about old stuff, and I have lost most interest in most new stuff. I think that's one of the things I like so much about the PS5 Pro right now, it just feels like the perfect way to enjoy the present era and offerings with video games. I think this will probably be the last console gen I will really want to be a part of anyways. I am getting tired of keeping up with the latest games when so few really appeal to me, and eventually settling on a nice gaming PC when I want to game beyond my PS5 Pro seems like my plan going forward.

Subscriptions have a lot to do with this, seems like both Microsoft and Sony are dedicated towards basically trying to force their subscriptions on everyone, and they keep making them more and more overpriced IMO. I already can't justify Gamepass Ultimate anymore, I only do Core because it's basically needed if you want to have any online capabilities. The PS+ Essential is basically the only sub that really makes sense to me right now, and even then I would prefer to no longer need something like that eventually and I think it's a bit too expensive for what it is already.

So at this point I just like gaming on PS5 Pro, feels like the right place to be at this moment in time for this era of video games. Anything else and I'm looking at retro gaming or handheld, and with handhelds I am basically set on Steam Deck and Switch(2) along with a few retro emulation handhelds.

Same. Generally I PC game and buy exclusives on the consoles (or whatever the kids want to play something on). People get weirdly hostile on this subject

I prefer consoles simply because of the setup. Big TV(65" Oled) and lazy boy, compared to office chair(high quality) a 32" widescreen monitor.

The thing for me though is the game needs to be playable with a controller. Since being diagnosed with Parkinson's in November, and the tremors in my right hand, it's almost impossible to use a mouse to play.

So since the PC is losing it's m/k advantage, console by default become even more of my go to for gaming.

I own a good pc, a PS5 and a switch. Same as always.
same.

unfortunately I can't really game any more on PC, super casual games sure but nothing that requires hand eye coordination, which is why I bought a PS5.

Switch I only use when out to sea with out internet. I haven't looked into steam handheld or switch 2 to determine how accessible they are in offline mode
