This drive has TONS of issues with the PS5. From not recognizing to system crashes. Get a refund on this drive if you can or try another drive. I’m telling you right now if you remove this SSD everything will go back to normal.

Also you need a speed of 5500mb/s as a requirement. Quick google search had that at 4900. Unless it is the elite which is 7k. Still tons of issues with this model.

Ah yeah it's a pro, specifically CORSAIR MP600 PRO LPX 2TB
I did google plenty of other people reporting issues both with that model of SSD but also many others with the launch ps5. Overheating, crashes, similar to what I'm seeing. PS5 seems very limited in the error reporting, it shows definite signs of overheating or potentially a failing power supply but I can't find any log where it records that that's what's occurring.
If I was to buy another SSD I'd probably just get a ps5 pro instead anyway since my ps5 is literally a launch day one so it's closing in on 5 years of life and is probably due to die. It gets extremely heavy use, mostly from the kids.

The 30 minute session crashing has been happening for quite a while since I installed that Corsair SSD last year but it never really bothered me much until recently. I rarely get time for longer play sessions, I plat'd Expedition 33 without much annoyance since there's nothing in that game that takes long in between save points.

It's really an issue for me now though since I'm back to trying to finish the FF7 Rebirth plat and you have to beat two bosses in a row without being able to save in between. Hard mode Rude+Elena followed straight up by Rufus. I can't get through both of them in 30 minutes.. With enough practice I could but I cant get enough time to practice on Rufus due to the crashing.

I snagged the Pro because most of the VR games are better by a decent margin.

I'm not getting any more frames playing Lunar remastered though, I think it's bugged :p

new PS5 firmware today puts out low power mode, people are speculating this is to start getting software ready for a PS5 or PS6 portable the size of a PSP. it would be cool if ps6 launched with a console and portable although i'm not sure how many people will really give a shit

I guess I'm getting a PS5 Pro. The CC rewards program I'm in had Best Buy cards, $50 for $40 worth of points. I was able to get a $500 one and a $250 one for $600 worth of points. 20% off isn't bad. Not sure what else I'd get at Best Buy. I can't recall the business the other promotion was with, but it wasn't anything I use regularly.

Wonder if I have a ton of accumulated points. I've bought probably $2000 worth of stuff from Best Buy in the past year, not counting the TV I got for $3000 a couple years before that. No idea if I'm in any sort of rewards program or anything. This year's purchases were mostly on a Best Buy credit card, but it isn't a store card, it's just a regular VISA that I pay at the end of the month.

The low power mode on a home console sounds like one of the most pointless features ever devised. It's not like game consoles use a ton of power anyways, they're nothing like a serious gaming PC, almost mobile devices by comparison. I think Microsoft also tried to push an idea like that and it was overwhelmingly unpopular with everyone being like "why would I want to do that?"

So it's either eco-nuts in their organizations pushing their bullshit or they're toying around with making their games compatible with lower power devices.

Anybody playing the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake this weekend?

Best Metal Gear Solid game out of all of them, and it's getting a Demon Souls style makeover from Bluepoint (do Bloodborne next plx)

Don't see a thread for it, surprised there isn't any discussion about it. It's going to be a good time, especially considering I haven't played it since 2007 or so. Taking Friday off for it and doing a game marathon for the first time in like a year.

The hell is a "premium game sold separately"? What did I actually buy? Why are games all retarded now?

Well, once I finally get this last download done, the actual game is probably good beyond the layers of bullshit.

I have given up on the latest COD games because they have become such bullshit to deal with. I think the last one I can go back to was Cold War and even that takes up a ton of space. Anything newer and it's like they're trying to prevent me from being able to play it.

Yeah, this is what happened to me with Modern Warfare 1 (the new one). I tried a few years ago, I think at Regime Regime behest, but I couldn't get the game to install right or something like that.

I finally decided to give it another shot this week and actually managed to get it installed and working.

MW1 takes up like 150 GB. ONE HUNDRED FIFTY GB. And that's the PS4 version, I didn't even get the PS5 version (if there is one).

I'll say this though, MW1 is one of the best-looking games I've ever played, despite this being a PS4 version. It looks better than nearly all of the PS5 games I've played. I'm not even kidding. Maybe it's stealthily upscaled to being PS5 level or something? Because this looks flat-out amazing. A lot of the scenes look photorealistic and the framerate is so high that it's pretty much real life (wouldn't shock me if it was 120 Hz).

Really impressed with the game, it was worth going through the trouble to get through all of the installation crap. I'm going to run the campaigns for the new trilogy whenever I've got time. CoD has such underrated campaign modes.
