So funny the path Sony has taken. IPTV, game streaming, instant game collection, handheld gaming, etc. So many efforts that they got in early on and then abandoned or never fully realized until competition passed them by.

Spec Ops the Line was one of the best shooter stories of all time. If you haven’t played it, do it.

The guy who wrote it is now the lead writer for Wolverine, which is awesome because that same dark, psychological storytelling is perfect for Wolverine.

I love how they think people are dropping their console and BS services because they released games on PC. No Sony. Your quality for 1st party has gone to shit and your jacked up subscriptions suck and people are done with it.

There best port to PC has been Stellar Blade, the exact opposite of their 1st party games, so in order protect those DEI infested studios, they will no longer port their games to PC (can't have them look worse compared to Stellar Blade).

Devils advocate - gaming is kinda receding some. Xbox sucks. PS5 is better but that just means it sucks a little less. Nintendo “won” but their third party shit runs a generation behind. PC is expensive and most people nope out. I hear less and less talk about gaming at work other than the turbo nerds. Sales of hardware and software are way down.
I actually think Sony is looking at Nintendo’s “dominance” and strategy and trying to ape it somewhat or return back to 2000. People have already pointed out the obvious problems with their games currently. The problem is Nintendo gets sales as a safe first console for kids a lot of times. And no DEI shit provided the rumors on the next Pokémon are not true. Combined with talks about delaying ps6 and being lower relative tech. I think Sony just trying anything to survive.

Most "Nintendo" games are fun and accessible, that is a big key...not the only aspect, but quite a big one.
They also have to just /look/ accessible and fun to play from the very first look. They also have generational brand awareness to fall back on.
If something is a /Mario/ X most people assume it will be fairly easy to play, fun and good for the kids.

Nintendo has done a good job of keeping their graphics timeless like WoW strived for early on.
PlayStation hasn’t managed to find that mascot, but boy do my kids love AstroBot. They had/have a chance. Their focus on adult style games doesn’t lend itself to that childhood mascot like Mario. Kratos? Spider-man maybe - but that’s licensed? Jak, Ratchet, Clank? Sackboy?
I think Sony just doesn’t sell parents on getting PlayStation for their kids.

Thought Sackboy was their "mascot" for a while. The AtroBot was just a robot sackboy- both were their best "Mario game" foot forward for their generations.
