Really solid 2 episode premiere. Good sign that Apple had so much faith in Vince Gilligan they gave Pluribus a 2-season order right out of the gate.

I am pretty sure that is the least effective human resistance movement in any media ever ;p
Yeah. None of them have any skills that could solve this problem. Lesbo better start getting used to the idea of joining the swarm.

Alright, watched the first 2 episodes:

Direction, production, acting etc are top notch but let's drive to the story: Mankind is being "invaded" by some sentient hivemind-like "virus" that insists it's "not alien" but has "alien" technology (extraterrestrial is the right word)

Guess I’m in the minority who’s not feeling this right now or maybe the show just isn’t for me. I’m definitely not saying it’s bad, because it isn’t.

This show feels very much like one of those last person on earth shows meets the Truman Show, yet neither. Shes technically alone in the sense that shes not part of the hive mind and has her individuality, yet the rest of humanity is still technically alive and always around her and watching her and ready to serve her.

I kinda feel like one of the other 11-12 “immune” in the sense that I really…don’t care all that much?

In invasion of the body snatchers, you’re constantly worried about whose an alien and who isn’t and there is a real fear of being killed. In this theres really no fear of anything since the hive mind literally goes to extremes to cater to your every whim and you can completely shut it down by screaming at it.

I guess you can argue the real fear is that the hive mind is trying to figure out why the other 11-12 are immune so they can “fix it”, thus technically killing the other survivors, but the world is already over. That basically just leaves this as a last person on earth show where Kim navigates the end of the world alone, yet not alone.

I will say the acting and dialog is pretty good and I love the way the hive mind talks and tries to explain things.

It's tough to bet against Gilligan's track record, but I don't see how you can have a longrunning show with only ~13 characters (the 12 immune and The Hive Mind). Especially if most of those other characters have indeed internalized that the world they knew is effectively over, so why not enjoy what you can.

So far, I view this more as a funhouse mirror of the classic Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life" - "The Twilight Zone" It's a Good Life (TV Episode 1961) ⭐ 8.6 | Drama, Fantasy, Horror - where a small cast of characters has to keep a godlike entity happy (or at least, not unhappy). Obviously the stakes are higher here - only the townspeople were at risk in the Twilight Zone episode; here, all of humanity could theoretically end if their behavior is too unruly.

They can figure out how to snap people out of it, it can literally just about about her and her frustrations which could last a few seasons. They could have lied about their only being 12 immune. Somewhat different show but 'last man on earth" does a pretty good job of it before those cunts cancelled it after I think 5 seasons? I really enjoyed that show. It was truly, a shawshank redemption.

I have to assume this is a way to colonize or essentially prevent humans from being a danger to them. If you're incapable of hurting someone Intentionally you can't be a competing species.

Maybe more will come from that.

he may find a character that the fans love like Saul. I am loving this show and yea you don’t bet against him. I only expect better things for season 2

Is it just me, or did they make all the brown people essentially no apple retards who can't actually understand the gravity of the situation (they don't seem to understand free will)?

Yeah they were kind of retarded, but it took it as more like willful ignorance. That street shitter refused to think her son was not the same little kid. It was pretty alarming actually.

This show is actually doing a really good job at representing what would actually happen. The vast, vast majority of society are like the retards in this show. So mathematically, it makes sense they'd be the ones "immune".

I also really enjoy the philosophical questions that arise from a concept like this.

I really want to complain that she is being stupid and she isn’t asking the right questions. After what I witnessed during Covid. This is plausible.

Loving it so far. Really loved the first episodes buildup to everything going to shit.

I hate the other 5 already but I think it's super representative of how people would be. The hive mind is manipulating the rest of the survivors by pretending to be their family, which essentially makes them submissive. Main character has no one, so she's not buying it.

Let's be honest we'd all be the black dude if this happened.

I'm not sure about that.

There's a comfort, at least for me, that if there were a world ending event that killed everyone that I wouldn't care because we're all dead. That part of death where you're concerned about your loved ones and everyone else moving on without you suddenly isn't a concern.

If you're now isolated and everyone you know is gone, but there's even a 0.01% chance you could return their free will, I think you'd have no choice but to dedicate your life to it. Fucking a mindless borg sounds lonely. Especially one that's a vegan.

Well, yeah, but then its not just ~13 characters anymore. The show explicitly mentioned people in orbit as well - both Y: The Last Man and Last Man on Earth added characters through astronauts returning from orbit.

I _think_ we're headed into ugly philosophical dilemma territory. I highly suspect the new love interest will be straight when not mind controlled, adding to Carol's unease.

I'd guess one of the unknown immunes will be a radical freedom-ist (nukes were mentioned as well, come to think of it) - if any act of rebellion causes millions to die, at which point is it _more_ moral to kill the guy fighting for freedom?

Edit: Obviously, the title (Pluribus, not Unum) suggests we're focusing on the immunes, not the swarm.

Why even care about the 11-13 whatever?

even an altruistic benefit god/ai/alien/predator knows this is no threat and will probably solve itself very fast.

makes more sense there is a directive to stamp out negative or whatever bullshit flavor word salad that makes the world “perfect”.

We have to assume all people are in there together, just have no ability to project themselves out.

fully expect a cliffhanger like a hive minder being able to break out with “help me” nonsense. It’s heavily suggested this like a CERN/SETI type org and had to take on the military.
