The "cant pick an apple" thing is just absolutely retarded.
They already said they're milking cows. Picking an apple is the same as milking a cow. Apples arent living organisms. The seeds are, true, but you don't eat the seeds.
It was an interesting ethical dilemma but the can't pick an apple thing just turns it retarded. There is no reason not to pick fruit, within the ethical rules they've established.
Yeah the "can't harvest crops" thing is pretty dumb, but ultimately is a minor squabble and it doesn't change much at all. The rules previously established reduced human food supply by 80% and was going to cause mass death and eventually humans to go extinct. These additional rules reduce that 20% down to like 3%. So everyone starves to death slightly faster? no real difference in the grand scheme of things.
Also kinda weird on the milking of the cows, doesn't seem logical either, but it also doesn't really matter. All the dairy cows are gonna dry up in a few months and will no longer require milking anyway without human beings artificially inseminating them. As it stands now even freed, there aren't enough bulls to keep the cows pregnant, we artificially reduce the male population of cows (steers) for dairy for obvious reasons, in that male cows can't produce milk and if you are using artificial means to retrieve semen you only need 1% male population to keep the 99% female population producing milk via controlled pregnancies.
In all likelihood most domesticated cow species would go extinct in relatively short order without human intervention, some breeds of wilder cows would maybe survive.
Does make me wonder though if the hive can collect and eat chicken eggs? They are unfertilized ie they are not living things, and they are just laying there. Of course if you freed the chickens the roosters would start fertilizing at least some of those eggs so maybe they would have to inspect each one before consuming it?
Meat chickens tho (Broilers), which is like 90% of chickens on earth, would be extinct in a matter of months. These monstrosities are man-made horrors beyond comprehension, mutant cancer chickens that we've selectively bred into new species (Scientific name: Mutantus Rotisserie Deliciousnus) only exist because we will them to. Their mutation causes non-stop release of growth hormone that gets them up to butchering weight at 6 weeks, before they even hit puberty, so we can harvest both male and female chickens with impunity. Even if they weren't turned into chicken nuggets before they made it past the toddler stage, most wouldn't survive to adulthood due to heart defects and bone cancers. Those few who do reach maturity their breasts are too large for them to mate naturally, which is why at any point in time there is at least 1 million people jerking off and artificially inseminating chickens....right now, as you read this sentence, to keep the adult females laying billions of eggs non-stop to keep the KFC flowing. and unlike bulls or horses or other animals that we may artificially inseminate for agricultural reasons, there is no "device" for this process to "collect" samples. chickens are jerked off by hand due to their anatomy (reptiles/birds have a cloaca rather than an external penis)
