Two years ago, I caught a kitten living under the drain in a retaining pond near my house. Named him Bruce for the handsomeness of Bruce Wayne and for his ability to fly through the air like Batman (usually to knock food out of my hand). Today I had to give him up as part of my divorce agreement. Will never get to hear his little trill again or find out if he ever grows out of his baby voice and may never get to say goodbye one day when his time comes and it breaks my fucking heart. Going to miss him so much.

There's still hope.

My ex wanted the dog to go with the kids - back and forth. That lasted all of exactly one night. Turns out the dog ain't a fan of being away from the master in a strange place. She got dropped off the next morning and lived out the rest of her days with me.

I required her to take the cat with her - but the new cuck already had 2 cats, and they were none too keen on the new guy encroaching on their territory. He's also an outdoor cat, and the ex wouldn't let him out anymore since she was afraid he'd never come back. The kids eventually told me "Jack's pretty miserable, he's got scratches all over his face, and the other cats won't let him out of a corner of the living room."

I hate the little fucker, but nothing should have to live like that, so I told the ex I'd take him back too, where he gets to come and go as he pleases and murder as many small animals as his little heart desires. When the ex came over one day to drop off a present for the kid or something, as soon as he saw her he climbed inside the couch and refused to come out the rest of the day.

Don't give up hope. Your ex is a lazy, selfish fuckwit. There's a solid chance you get Bruce back somewhere along the way.

Hunted over my dad’s 3 year-old golden today, first time I’ve got to hunt with her. She did great, retrieved all 3 we got today like a champ. She was pretty pleased with hersel. Here she is with my brother and the first wood duck.

So one of our 7 dogs, brother and sister pair, about 3 years. Fell ill a few weeks ago. Wont eat vomiting etc. Day 3 went to the vet. Plethora of xray worm test etc etc. Basically got a who knows. Antibiotics, pain, nausea meds etc. Seemed like got a little bit better in week 2 we got some food down to stay etc. But generally turning his nose up even at fresh chicken etc. 2nd weekend took him to OSU university vet hospital.
Story changed a few times from trying to aspirate a lymph node to realizing there was a problem in his intestine itself. Awaiting final tests but is looking to be Pythium or one of 2 other fungal infections. Google is a nightmare, 20% of less survival, only real treatment is removal of infected area. So they took 3 ft of gut. And the good news is theres a experimental immunotherapy/vaccine we will get for free if we commit to further blood testing etc so he can be in their studies. Allegedly 80% success rate.

So in to him for $6k so far, plus going to be like 4 visits for the day at our local vet not 2 hours away to do the therapy after he finishes healing from the surgery.

Day 1 was rough, 2 hour drive with awful shit smelling dog because they did a very poor job of cleaning up his diarhea. 5 minutes with gloves, soap and a watering can and we had him cleaned up. Night 1 was rough with us up to 3am. Trying to sleep w/ him on air mattress, he just wouldn't stay settled, and still being prone to barfing 30 minutes after food/water.
Today has been much better a water vomit, and a couple small food vomits, but well after he got his pills. He was so zonked first night from 2 gabapentins we are backing him off to 1, because I swear he was going to just die from 2 of those being too much for him. Finally got a hershey shit tonight out of him as well. Goal thru monday is keep him on a few walks to keep his gut moving but otherwise no running/jumping so we've been lifting his emaciated ass onto the couch to nap with her most of the day.

Just wish this had happened with one of our senior dogs likely in their last year anyways, or at least her shitty bernadoodle I despitse. The sister didnt act like she missed him, but their high energy chaos forms the tweedle team. Can't have tweedles if there's only one, and he is the ringleader. I just have a bad gut feeling this is going to rear it's head back up in a few weeks or months, so really hoping antifungal/steroid/immuno does the trick.

After too many close calls with cars and now there's a fox patrolling the area rather frequently at work, I've taken her home.

It's been some adjusting for her but she's finally coming out.

If one of those plastic bags is where our dumbass cat can get to it, he will eat it. Then an hour or 2 later he will puke it out somewhere else. He had stomach issues bad one time and I just knew the vet was going to tell us he had a mass of plastic bags in his stomach but it was something else.

Today was the day. Fucking fuck.

Our Boston Terrier was 12 years old, 13 in November.

She's been like a puppy all her life. She's been running with Labradors her whole life so she was really fit for a short nosed breed.

Started getting cataract in both eyes the last year but still active like a puppy, found holes in the fence and escaped daily from the yard despite her eyes.

Last week she started getting some seizure for a few minutes, eyes darting and she lost all balance and went in circles. It passed in a few minutes so we thought it was temporary or that we could maybe get some medicin for it.

Happened every 3 days and the 4th time was Saturday evening, that one lasted 30 minutes. The price during a weekend veterinarian visit is quite steep so we decided to check her out on Monday.

5 am this morning she got another seizure, and it did not stop. So at 6 am on a Sunday we went in for the final appointment.

Probably a brain tumor that caused. I knew it was time soon, but still. Both the GF and me are totally broken over this.

Rest in piece Nova.

It's easy falling into despair when it's fresh but we try to remember the good 12 years instead of the last week. It's starting to sink in and feel better but it returns in waves.

I love our pets more than people, maybe there's something wrong with me but that's the reality.

Still got our two Labradors and two orange cats that keep us smiling.

A throwback to 2023, she had some project going with our oldest boy.

I think that holds for the majority of pet owners. My wife, my daughter and my pets. The rest of the world can disappear. I’m sorry for your loss.

I would trade everyone on this planet for Zelda by my side until the day I die.

It's the monkey paw that keeps me from making that wish, probably fuckin die tomorrow.

This one only visits if you ignore her completely. Any attention and she leaves, also the only cat you can rub all over and she just leans into it but you have to surprise her or she runs away.
