I really liked this too.
Really? I just think the animation style is off-putting, plus the strong Viking lady. The other two stories I guess look okay because I'm assuming it's an anthology.

I don't know I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to watch it.

is my Hulu messed up or is this supposed to look like it is 14 frames per second on purpose? This is annoying.

The animation is great during the middle segment in Japan in my opinion, it can definitely be smooth and quick when needed, and other moments are a bit more subdued with a slower frame rate, but it didn't bother -me-, your opinion may vary but after a few minutes I really wasn't noticing the "framerate" of the animation at all anymore, at least it wasn't bothering me because I was involved in what was happening on screen.

Overall, I think you should give it a watch if you like Predator, there's a bunch of callbacks and references to the films too.

Having watched it, I find the "strong woman" complaint really funny because goddamn there's almost nothing feminine about this character at all, except she happens to be female... , she's not pretty or young, she's a merciless relentless badass from start to finish, and doesn't feel at all like a Mary Sue that are usually seen in girlboss stuff.

Also, it's an actual feature-length film with chapters, it's not really an anthology where you can skip episodes in my opinion.

So a male protagonist replaced with a woman. Never seen that before. It's the magical strong as a man super butch right?

It's MAAM!

Yeah maybe I might get used to the animation style, but it's not my cup of tea.

What I find more hilarious though is the strong Viking lady isn't feminine at all, but she sounds like a merciless man, not attractive, totally acts different than a woman, and I wonder where that decision was made from what people within the industry.

You're not selling me on it. I still will admit I might get used to that odd animation style, but I'm still probably not going to watch it. There's no reason to support this sort of bullshit.

Usually shitty animation bothers me but this didn't. Also the Viking chick was pretty good and so was her story. The Japanese one was great too.

It was 1.5 hours of predator fight scenes with a little bit of story added on to connect everything. After the 10-minute Viking chapter at the start the animation smoothed out and wasn't bothersome at all. No idea why that particular portion is so exaggerated and shitty. It was pretty fun for what it is.

Watched based on the recommendations in this thread. This was great. The whole thing is a lean 90 minutes that doesn't waste a second of your time.

The animation... frame rate? is off-putting for the first few minutes and then you get sucked in and it just fades to the background. The actual animation and art style is great. Lots of variety in the action/predators/gadgets.

Dan Trachtenberg seems like he has a great sense for how to build a character enough that you care about them and then hit all the beats of a good predator story. Color me cautiously optimistic for Badlands after a pretty poor reaction to the trailer.

I watched it with my boys. We enjoyed it. Yeah female hulk smash viking lady kinda felt off but lets be honest all the characters were pulling off crazy stuff. Overall it was a fun watch, entertaining fights, and the story looks to be setting up future stuff especially considering the final reveal. Let go of the hate and enjoy.

I liked this - constant action, almost no character building, good animation, moderately interesting stories.

The bad - shitty framerate, and while the viking story was decent, the japan one was good, the american one leaned way too hard into the absurd. The logic for how the end fight played out is worse than independence day, which previously held the record for least plausible alien interaction of all time.

Bonus points for the aggrieved sigh during the japanese stealth sequence.

Bonus loss of points for 'they have heat vision goggles, that means their spaceships can't see you at close range in broad daylight'.

Fun movie, start to finish. It is a great deal, for the price of Free on Hulu. The framerate was pretty jarring at first, but your brain adjusts after a bit.

They keep exceeding expectations with the Predator franchise. This Dan Trachtenberg guy seems to know what he is doing.
