Raid mobs and their loot were more of a special thing in their day. I never felt entitled to be able to see every single one, every single week. People that feel that way would be better off on PQ with instanced mobs.
Some of us like that and the scramble and rush to get them when they do spawn.
P99 's problem is guilds have stables of clerics ready to go crushing ones that don't. Or guilds having more people willing/able to play cleric alts. Account sharing was against the original terms of service, and "cleric bots" (or enchanters/shamans for ST) has become the new "nonclassic experience" in a similar vein to boxing. I largely gave up trying to suggest these things as I saw bias and staff membership in guilds (a confirmed current problem, not worth going through pursuing all over again).

EQ was a great game but I’m not sure “only super nerd lords who work from home or have no job can enjoy the end game content” was ever really good game design, it was just all we knew in 2000.
It definitely worked back in 1999-2002 when a lot of us were in high school or college but I think the number of people who play EQ *despite* the intense competition for endgame content are much more than the people who play *because of* it.
Not to mention on a server like p99 where this raid content is the endgame indefinitely, does the “unique/special” loot card really play when you have literal years of non-stop farmed raid gear on the server?

Same reason other P99 server launches get cancelled over the last 10 years. They have an agreement with Daybreak and it prevents them from doing whatever they want.

I think its more or less a matter of work and demand over anything else. They made the agreement like 10 years ago and have launch green since. I doubt their agreement limits new servers, it allows them to run p99 with titanium client and sets their restrictions to cap at velious and not to release against a TLP. I think there has even been confirmation they planned to launch a new one and sunset green into blue but those plans changed.

It's the CS headache to comes with running an entirely new server. If you ever been part of the raid scene on P99, you can tell in the Green UN discord at least, they are tired of the CS that comes with the server.

They had plans for several servers over the years that were scuttled soon as the agreement was made.
The reality is they released one server in a decade-- after having plans for a lot more offerings. Can't be a coincidence.

I asked Rogean a long, long time ago when he was still posting on these boards (or the original foh board, as it was back then).
I suggested that they open a new server every few years and combine old servers. Keeps things fresh and there's always a new or newish server to play on but no one loses characters.
He responded with a post saying basically "that's the plan."
Didn't get implemented beyond green. Not sure anyone really knows why. If it was part of the Daybreak agreement I'd like to see some evidence beyond speculation. I suspect it was more about the effort/work it would require.
Either way, it didn't happen and it likely won't. Which is a shame.

I remember that too. The plan on green was to implement the last patch of Velious and after a certain time period, they would roll it into blue and start a new server fresh every 3 years or so. I have no idea why the plan disappeared. It could be the work involved with a new server especially with the duplicate names probably being used between blue/green and/or the deal with daybreak. If they are going to refuse a new server and essentially stop where blue/green are currently, I don't fully understand why they won't release the code for someone else to take the mantle.

Doesn't explain why Discord99 never launched. A short-term server with 0 announced support or CS.
The fact is there are servers they specifically announced that would have absolutely no CS support and last for a set small amount of time that never launched after they entered into official agreement. These were projects slated by admins besides Rogean and full steam ahead. That all stopped and were never spoken again after the agreement was made.
I see in the Quarm agreement Secrets just got they agreed not to modify the content of the original game at all. I wonder if that's what stopped Discord99.

i vaguely recall something about rogean being listed as the owner as a site for dildo's or something like that
