I'm not sure how many of you play Dwarf Fortress or games with a lot of simulation complexity, but Project Zomboid is bloody brilliant. It is in development but you can pick it up on steam for like $15. It has an astounding level of detail even now. May not be for a lot of people though. But if you play DF or like it at all you'll love this.

This video is funny and shows you some level of detail on it, item combinations/crafting are interesting in this game. It is essentially a rogue-like, like DF in that you will eventually die off from something. I've been dying from god damn winter starvation mostly. I can't preserve enough food to survive the winter without excessive scavenging. You can even commit suicide by drinking bleach and shit.

Multiplayer could be fun too.

I played an alpha of it a long time ago, maybe a year or so before it made it onto Steam Greenlight. Haven't really kept up with the changes since then, but the game definitely has potential.

I can't stand that dudes voice in that video or his mannerisms.

I did watch a lets play video of this where your neighbor busts in with a gun and holds you and your wife up, was pretty cool.

Are you guys really bashing Robbaz's voice? Wow. His hilarious voice and awful English accent are one of the main reasons his videos are so great.

Sadly i bought this and regret it , wish i would of checked videos of it and see that not much has been added/changed since 1 year ago. Compare this to starbound in terms of updates and you will be annoyed how how this game is being neglected and not given a fuck by the dudes that made it.

I like the concept of this game but I just couldn't get into it. It seems like a huge part of the game is looting and the looting interface is pretty annoying (Though I like the approach of localized containers popping up in a common dialog, the range is too low and the interface doesn't hide/show very smoothly). The combat is also somewhat unfulfilling as well. I feel like I could get into it more if I knew more but there just doesn't seem to be much payoff.

They still have not added anything in regards to NPC/interaction. But there is alot of crafting options now compared to last year, plus fishing and some other stuff. A combat redesign happened recently too, so skills matter more than they used to.

Its totally sandbox, so you'll have to make your own fun. No quests or random encounters yet. But multi player is in now. They were hit heavy with DDoS so you have to find the servers on your own via forums and whatnot since they took down the public list in the client itself. They apparently re-added the server list to the public sans one host still out of date, so multi player is easier to do. Over all for a sandbox survival its pretty good, better then it was a year ago. For 8.99 its most likely worth getting, if you're ok with it still being in a beta/early access state. Also, they stated this is the lowest the price will go until the game is well into its twilight. So the folks that bought @ 8 dollars still bought at the lowest price. They stated they will have a price increase for the game once its launched, basically after NPCs/vehicles are put in. So while the % will be lower in the future, the price will still be above 8 dollars as to not piss off their alpha buyers.

I downloaded this last weekend and had a lot of fun.

The game has evolved a lot over the years I guess, the graphics in (beta) build 41 remind me of the sims.

One of my chars was really nicely set up, could at least make it for a few weeks without incidents, except I got the flu and died.

Fucking covid.

With this game now more popular than its ever been and the 41.65 multiplayer update being a smashing success (still a few bugs but the network code seems to be amazing), I've picked it back up and have been having a lot of fun, maybe we can get a FoH server going and have some fun.

Definitely a hard game but becomes manageable with enough experience and a lot of caution.

I just purchased this but haven't played it (thanks, sales); can't wait to just get chain-murdered by shit zombies who just accidentally touch me randomly.

I haven't played this for several years but glad to see its really hit its stride as more of a simulation game. When I last played it it was all about building your little settlement and once you sorta stabilized you could live that way. As the zombies had no real ability to break down certain wall configurations.

I'd be down for a FOH server. Let me see how its done I can probably boot one up in AWS.

Okay so I've figured out how to do this for this game. If we can get like 5+ people wanting to play I'll get it running this weekend.
