Never would have imagined he would suicide.

You just know his suicide note is an epic rant about something. Kinda want to read.

Midlife crisis had him banging a younger chick, and then she left him right? I'm guessing that lead to this. Still, fucking shocking. Did not expect this one. Even if his personal life was shit, dude gets paid to go eat and drink all day and visit exotic places--hard to imagine feeling blue enough with a life like that to end it, especially if you've got an 11 year old little girl.

Has to be something else, like found out he was going to die and decided to on his own terms. He was in France filming another buddy episode with Eric Ripert who apparently found him, so it’s not like he wasn’t around friends and family at the time. Ex New York chef and hard drug user, so he had some demons for sure but really seemed like he coped with them. Always liked him and the stories he tried to tell about people in some really shitty parts of the world, this is sad.

Absolutely insane. He had an 11 year old daughter (first wife) as well. His long time friend Eric Ripert found him in his hotel room, death by hanging, while they were filming an episode of Parts Unknown.
