So wait, you're telling me that the same people that used cheap Russian energy to subsidize their industrial base, and then took part in refusing to treat with Russia about Russian security concerns, are now whining and crying to their gov't that they can't afford to lose their source of cheap, abundant energy on what their gov't argues is a moral position?

I thought some of the peace offerings suggested that Russia was fine with EU membership, as long as NATO backed off forever.

They’ll probably had a bombed husk of the northwest region back to the EU for them to rebuild. The NW section of Ukraine is far worse for agriculture and resources than the rest of the country. It’d essentially be a perma mooch and holds little strategic value. I’m sure Russia wants a border with Hungary, where globohomo is try to use its tricks to overthrow Orban.
