I did not enjoy myself at Disneyland, but I pretended I did and my oldest had a blast.

I went one time in 2005 when me and my now wife started dating. Too fucking many kids (I realize I am not the target audience) we went in August , hot / humid as all be damn but I did get to see the star wars parade and go on that SW themed flying ride that has been since replaced (cannot recall the name) and I saw the real guy that played Chewy on the parade.
My brother goes 2-3 times a year but he has kids.

There's just no where I want to go where I have to wait in line for 2 hours. For anything.

Also, there are so many people that walk around without looking where they're going

I've brought my boys to Disneyland 6 or 7 times. Generally I google a calendar and only go on a day that the park is forecasted to be dead. My kids had 0 interest in waiting in a line if it was more than 10 minutes, they didn't throw a fit or anything, they would just be like "nope, that line is too long, lets do a different one". We'd usually ride everything in the park at least once, and the favorites 3-10 times. Was always super easy and fun.

One time we just had a random "We're going to be in California on this day, fuck it, lets do Disneyland!" and the place was packed. Like you said, every ride was like 2+ hours. We got in 3 rides in the first hour while people were still coming in, then it took almost 2 hours for 1 more ride, then 2 more hours for another 1 ride... then it was past lunch and we all went "Who wants to just leave, get lunch and go watch a movie instead?" and everyone was on board. My kids were like 9 and 7 at the time too, like prime Disney age.

I only did Summer because it was a birthday present for my daughter, and I had paternity leave for my youngest. It also took us a day to figure out the Lightning pass bullshit. And by day 2, three of the rides they wanted to go on were closed all day for maintenance issues. I've got plenty to bitch about from the trip, but all in all it was good because my daughter is very happy and loved all of it. We also got to spend a lot of time with my sister and her husband, who are about to have their first kid.

But from now on, we're doing rafting/surfing/kayaking birthday trips, or anything that doesn't require being in a sea of a kaberzillion people.

Some of my fondness memories as a little kid was my wild ass grandma taking me to Disneyland. I used to wear my Davy Crockett coonskin hat everywhere, because I really liked raccoons as a kid. :trump:

Anyways I tried to rekindle that feeling multiple times as I've gotten older and it just kept getting worse with each visit.

Yeah, I really wanted to take my kids to Disney World at some point, because I had really wanted to go as a kid and it never happened. Looked into it a few years ago and holy fucking shit is that an expensive trip. We ended up going to Hawaii for a week instead and probably spend 1/3 the money 3 days at Disney World was going to be. I still have a nagging in the back of my head to do it, but the kids are older now and would probably rather do other things (Like the trip to Japan we're planning for next year). At this point, maybe it will be a thing we do with the grandkids in 15 years :D

I only did Disney World as I lived in CLT NC at the time and it was a drive.
Fun Fact: I had a 350Z at the time and because it was so small and my now wife wanted to carry every fucking thing she owned we could not take it and had to take her shitty little base model Toyota RAV4. Thing rode like a buckboard wagon. I rode there and back the whole time saying 'I'm getting rid of that fucking car when I get home' and did. In 2 weeks time I was driving a brand new loaded 300C with the Hemi.

Were you wearing the coonskin cap?

I went twice as an adult. It took us a few days to figure out the wheelchair hack. Rent a wheelchair for your elderly mom for like $5 and since most lines are not ADA compliant, you get mixed in with the speedpass people. It might not work anymore, it's been a very long time.

I always wanted to stay at that star wars themed hotel, but it shut down before we ever got around to it. My wife likes florida a lot, so we will most likely wind up going for a day eventually. If the polar shift doesn't kill us first.

Growing up in Florida…

We go to Dollywood.

WDW is a pedo land and forget supporting them. They got rid of all the “things” people would learn and do about little secrets or ways to play the system a bit etc, its the epitome of corporate and greed.

If you have any feeling of… reservation about money or restriction on budget, do not go, period. You entire trip will be ruined as /evvvveeerrryyyyyy thing/ is an upsell that is presented in such a perfect non-upsell way… wait, its not an upsell as upsells you get a base item/thing that they want you to up sell on to… Disney its just a flat out sell sell sell to now “get” the “Exp” even..its sad. And even if you do go all out and spend all the money and the kids etc get to DO / GET everything they want- what you have at the end is crap- and never near “what it should be” or value etc.

Everything is purely experiential, even what you buy physically, the buying and having that thing is /for there/ and the exp. So if your like ‘kids you got 50 bucks, see what all you want while we do our thing for a few days then we choose what you want’ - nope, it wont work, whatever you buy will suck and be trash before you get home. Buying the crap /during/ your exp and having that thing while you are herded around IS the exp etc

“But I bought a Disney cutting board! How will that be useless” - if your buying /that/ stuff, Disney IS your life and you are willingly and effortfully attempting to take the exp home and force it there- your a fanatic and all your money is gone.

Grumpy Floridian WDW rant over.

Ok, ok, I got this. Judging by your choice in car. (100% fucking with you) Lol

You're black, you got the car because it looks like a Phantom but isn't close, you drive with the seat back way too far, your trunk can't handle the bass. The car is more expensive and "luxurious" than your house and you think mumble rap is a great genre of retardation. Also Kat Williams.
You're Oreo (why you got the hemi) till you get pulled over for a traffic violation and then you turn "street". Because ACAB or some shit. Lol ✊🏿
