Pretty much this. "Wisdom of the crowd" doesn't really help you with thinks that rely heavily on personal preference. I look at a Yelp/Trip Advisor review for a restaurant and you see overwhelming "omg this place so good", then you go there and it is mediocre at best to me maybe. It ends up being more valuable for the non-food related info it gives (ie, their bathrooms havent been cleaned in 10 years, the health department shut them down 5 months ago, etc).
