Truth be told, the core concepts of the show could still work.
Plus, Chris Carter was a great idea man, but pretty poor with coherent world-building. So much of the "long arc" concepts in the original were either a complete hot mess or just made up as he went along. He was not a disciplined author/writer like J Micheal Stracynski or Joss Whedon.
I completely agree that their priorities, not even out of the gate, are already wrong. So, basically NO HOPE for the show at all.
But, in competent and respectful hands, the intellectual property could shine even better than the original (which had so many flaws but a great backbone).
I wonder if the rights to the show were sold at auction?
