I watched this finally. It was not too bad, although it treads ground that was very familiar.... Down on his luck fighter whose daughter is his whole world hooks up with degenerate old friend who convinces him to do "one last job" with a big payoff, which of course goes horribly wrong.

Shia LaBeouf actually shines in this movie though. I think he's trying really really hard to act against type so he keeps taking pretty challenging roles, which he then knocks out of the park. Not nearly as good as something like Warrior or Creed, but if you like that type of movie, this one works.

I honestly don't think he's that bad of an actor. I saw a movie I guess earlier this year The Peanut Butter Falcon, where he plays a coonass, and goes on a Huckleberry Finn like adventure with a kid with the downs. It was actually a pretty heartwarming movie, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

I don't necessarily know where his career went off a cliff, maybe it was when he had terminal TDS, and his flag kept getting captured, but the dudes got talent.
