Re-released in theaters this year, I HIGHLY recommend you see it on the big screen.

My personal top 10 all time, it can be astonishing in a theater setting.

I have not seen this movie since its original theater release, so take this comment with a grain of salt, but I don't remember it being very good... it goes way over the top with some story elements or situations to enhance the drama, for a context that really does not need it, and its technical affectations (notably with the use of color in a black and white film) are pretty laughable compared to movies that predated it, like Lars von Trier's Europa. On a similar topic, I recommend you watch Son of Saul instead (or also).

Well you're definitely in the minority.. This and Saving Private Ryan are probably two of my favorite Spielberg movies.

First of all, 1941 is the best Spielberg movie of all time.

Second, this is basically a reverse Last Temptation for Beating the Shit out of Christ for jewish holocaust torture porn enthusiasts. Like many holocaust camp moves, it leaves out all the other people who got snuffed out by the camps for a jewish centric focus (fine its Spielberg), demonizing the germans entirely outside Neeson's character. It was cartoony and over the top in its portrayals and I think Jacob the Liar was a better movie on the same general subject, though not as well acted. The movie should have ended without the whole historical recap thing, too.

But it is a great movie on a lot of levels, most of all for Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson. I think it did the best job of any movie portraying the fucked up situation and the terror of it. The scene with the old dude living because the Nazi cannot unjam his pistol is so fucked up on so many levels that it elevates my blood pressure just thinking about it. Schindler manipulating the camp commander with Roman history was also brilliant on every level. And the final breakdown at the end of the movie by Neeson might be one of the most moving scenes ever. I felt like the choice to go black and white was cheesy, but the red dress scene did play well emotionally so I give that art house move a pass, because the payoff was there later. It was also surprisingly true to the book, aside from the Hebrew centric focus, which is a rarity for Spielberg who generally likes to shit on the source material in some manner.

But it is torturous to watch and depressing. Plus I might be biased since I made the mistake of taking a girl I was trying to bang to this movie at her request and she went from sure thing to never going to bang after the movie was over. At least I got to nail the girl who cried at the end of Forest Gump.

Yeah dude, unless you picked her up at the local white nationalist bar taking her to a holocaust movie isn't exactly going to put her in the mood lol..

I think there's only been 3 or 4 movies/shows that have made me cry at the end. Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Star Trek II, and the last episode of Spartacus.

I seened this movie when it came on two video cassettes, had to wait to rewind the second one because I didn’t check ahead of time.

5/7, mediocre

(9.7/10, one of the greatest movies ever made imo)

Oh man, Spartacus is some epic television. 1st episode (pilot) was ironically junk, but after that it's some of the best television out there. It's basically a less intellectual version of Rome with far more violence, sex, and court intrigue. It's one of those TV series where you feel depressed when it's all finally over.. Do yourself a favor and torrent all seasons and binge them, you won't regret it. There's a big ass thread for it in the TV section.

Brazil I honestly barely remember, and while I would count Forrest Gump as one of my favorite movies of all time, and I choked up at the end, ultimately I didn't care enough for his wife for it to put me over the edge. I felt more bad for Forrest than I did his bitch wife..
