Smashed records. And is a dramatic improvement over Scream 6.

Don't skip this one.

Out now at the usual places.

I didn't even know they even attempted to make a 7. I stopped caring about this franchise at the Jay and Silent Bob cameo.

Is this franchise a comedy now? I think Scary Movie handles the concept better.

I think this one suffered because the last act required too much "telling" from the killers and not enough "showing" their behaviors as part of the suspect pool. One of the foundational rules for the franchise was being a solvable murder mystery with interactions and clues presented in scenes and this one ranks the lowest on that.

So i would label it as a different type of horror movie but not a "Scream" franchise movie. It's a Stab movie that happened in the fictional reality of the Scream characters. This does not need to be that meta and loses points because of it.

Jesus Christ this was bad. It’s easily the worst one in the series.

It’s not even worth the effort to shit on it. Don’t see it.

I lost all interest in this when they got rid of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega over being mildly critical of Israel. Scream 5 and 6 did a great job building towards a final act with those two, specifically Barrera's character's family lineage leaving her with hereditary mental issues. Her turning heel in 7 and Ortega having to survive her was the obvious final chapter to close out the "second trilogy" that I thought they were going for ("4" was just kind of a standalone revival during the time period when reviving things from the 90's was in vogue, while 5+ is a new generation entirely)

Instead they just axed Barrera and now 7 is just another retro revival like 4 was, only with all the men killed off lol
