I think games were more advanced than that in the 1980s.

Gave the demo a try, feels pretty meh.

Art is very good, they're going for a D&D campaign kind of storytelling too which I like but the gameplay is tedious.

They really want to push the whole D&D aspect so every fucking attack has to be rolled with dices, once for hit/miss and once for damage, even on the fastest setting it takes a while, then every char has to go so it's just like 40secs for a simple turn of basic attacks, and since you miss pretty often, you go through a lot of turns even against basic gobs. This is really unnecessary, no one cares about seeing the dice rolls, just tells me the results and let me play at an acceptable pace. Similarly the map is a hand drawn map as a page in the rulebook, first the map itself takes only a small part of the screen because of the whole "look this is in a book so cool" and then it's hardly readable and I don't believe you can leave pins or annotations(when every other door is locked and what not).

It really feels like something they over designed to look cool and forgot that people have to play through it. Honestly as much as I'm a fan of this type of old school dungeon crawler, I wouldn't force myself through the slog of playing a full length game with this setup. The art also feels off at times, being either too dark or too light depending on the details, I don't know if I could look at it for hours.
