Well just learned out the hard way that the Adept is much more limited due to the restrictions on Cyberware. May have to just let the Adept abilities go. The cyberware is far more beneficial I think.

Hey guys... i am trying this out but i have ZERO shadowrun experience... any thoughts on character creation or a guide i could look at ? I am not sure how to build / progress character and which skills have synergy with what classes etc.. ( i.e. A thrown weapon shaman ? ) .... stuff like that..

Some of the stuff on the Workshop is already pretty impressive, especially the GM mods showing how to do more drops and other scripted events. I expect a lot from the community.

I think so far the only thing is lacking for me is more drops. Maybe I'm just used to what games have become now, but killing a shitload of guys to be rewarded with nothing but med kits is just meh. Of course there is most likely karma for completing the quest, but I guess I'm just spoiled nowadays. I agree with combat not being hard, but the mod Life on a Limb looks challenging, the person who did the Let's Play of the mod died a few times. As for saves, maybe change saving to every zone in at least. So much text to read, even having to click through it all a second time is a pain in the ass.

Just check the class when you go to create it, it tells you what the main skill is of that class. Plus if you pick a class it uses some of the karma points for you to help you out.

Each stat tells you what it does too. Just don't spread the points out TOO much, focus on a couple stats and the skills under the stats and you should be fine.

Thanks, what about weapon skills can u bascially mix any combo ? I was going to do shaman and then something different like ranged, but no idea if that could work / not.

You can mix and match but guns and shaman use 2 different stats and sub stats. So it may be best to start up both initially but pump up one that you want to focus on and leave the other for backup. Once you have a good amount of karma you could put more in the backup state. But yes you can use all kinds of weapons even if you aren't proficient in them.

Thrown weapons is just grenades I think. I started as a decker, found that the game dumped karma into close combat and thrown, and promptly restarted my character after the first mission. Pretty sure that's the last time I'll play anything but a custom class.

As for mixing and matching, the one thing you absolutely should not do is get cyberware (implants) if you use magic. Your essence will drop, which increases the cooldown on all your spells, and then you suck.

Just found my first gripe with the campaign: Linearity

So very slight spoiler:

I went into a building somewhere, and it seems i cannot go out without accessing something in a computer... with a long guessing game. Im kinda tired so maybe it a bit obvious and im being turd-brained but i seem to think more about how its really bad that i cant go out the building without doing this than how to solve the computer puzzle... I mean if it was some kind of fight where they lock the exits, allrite. Im thinking of restarting as a decker... just cuz i just wanna continue lol

UGCs will probably fix this by making modules less linear, but its annoying me right now. Someone leave the puzzle solution in a spoiler! lol (seamstresses)

Shadow, Meat something or other (maybe) I think it was the second option, Chicago

I think linearity of the campaign is something a lot of reviews have mentioned too. The Berlin campaign is supposed to be a lot more open when we get that.

And I'm sure there will be a lot of user campaigns with a lot more paths and options.

Alt tabbing breaking the video on the game is pretty annoying, especially for a turn based like this. Otherwise the atmosphere/music/world design is top notch. Combat is what I expected (xcom + magic) and feels pretty satisfying.

I thought alt-tabbing broke the game for me, but it just moves your mouse all over and you end up looking at a dark corner of the screen.

The clues are all in the room.

Anyone know if cyberware is bugged? I can't seem to install or select any and just playing a gun user.

FYI, this campaign is meant to be linear, but the DLC campaign will be more open world.

Edit: Derp, Krag beat me to it. Oh well.

I couldn't care less about the campaign being linear. Too many games these days focus on open worlds and it dilutes the storytelling.

I ran into this problem as well. If I remember right, you need to select the cyberware you want to install, then just click the slot it goes in on your sheet. You can't drag and drop.

Made a troll adept. Focused on unarmed combat and chi casting with level 2 spell casting to equip heal. Basically first round I cast killer hands and sprint and the next round I dash around the map punching people goodnight. If anyone in my party happens to take a shotgun blast to the face, heal just makes that go away. Monks are always OP.

Minor Gripes:
Very hard feels like normal. They need more enemies per map I think. Accessing the stash seemed a little cumbersome at first. Not enough goodies to look for in each level so far, really kills the desire to explore.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's taking forever to open up a real party. So far it's been a one man show with some guests. Which fits the narrative thus far, I am just wondering when the party management is going to begin. And lastly, it doesn't feel like you really need a varied group to get anything done. Any utility the non combat oriented skills brings seems extremely minor.

Anyways, not sure if that needed a spoiler, just general observations about the gameplay.

The way I had to do it was click the gear i want to install, then click the slot to put it in, then click the gear again.

This is the only issue so far with the game, and I am fairly far inI think.

I'm at the cyber shop again. So, you drag and drop the ware you want onto your paperdoll, anywhere. The relevant slot(s) will light up, then you click the slot you want and the ware will appear there, then you click install. Not very intuitive, but whatevs.
