Didnt see a Skyfall thread yet.

Anyway, I was watching this again and noticed something during the song/opening credits scene. I have to believe it was intentional and if you were paying enough attention would be a significant spoiler of foreshadowing.

During the opening song when it gets to announcing Jedi Dench as M it is done during the graveyard scene and her name is the only name in the dead center of the screen and low and behold a grave pops up in the center of screen at the last possible moment signifying obviously that she is going to die.

Anyone else catch that?

Still cant decide if I liked this or Casino Royal more, both are amazing movies

I liked it. I don't know why some hated on it. It was better than a lot of other Bond movies. The villain's unnecessarily convoluted plan was lame, but that's generally how things roll in these films.

not sure if we are spoilering this still or not...

i always subscribed to the fact that Bond was different people that just took on the name and 007. but toward the end the grave stones that say Bond kind of made me feel quite different, not sure how i feel about that. otherwise the movie was great, really enjoyed javier bardem definitely one of the best bond villains ever.

This is the same discussion my friends and I had after seeing this.

Yeah, not sure why he needed to evacuate an entire island for his server room. You'd think that would raise suspicion. You're right though, at least it wasn't on the Moon.

Skyfall gave us the first Bond villain with which I could sympathize. Silva lays out his "This is why I am doing what I am doing" and I was forced to admit that he had a point.

Silva still has to lose and Bond has to win, but it added a little depth to the usual black/white characters.

This was the first, and only 007 movie I will see in the theater. I like watching them on my TV, but seeing how I fell asleep for about five minutes in the move theater while watching it, it's not worth going to the theater to watch it IMO.

I went into it being told "best bond ever?" and then when I saw it, I was disappointed with the villain's predictable and unnecessary plan and the ending portion of the film which didn't feel remotely like Bond. Did the hype create too great an expectation for me? Possibly, but as it stands I put this movie far far behind Casino Royale.

The cinematography, however, was phenomenal.

I don't know if there will ever be a Bond film better than Casino Royale. Badass all the way through.

I really enjoyed the end of Skyfall. Probably my favorite part. The villain's plan was just too ridiculous though. Extremely convoluted and complex plan even by Bond standards.

Daniel Craig, next to Sean Connery, is the best Bond. Hoping he stays for a little longer than the typical pattern.

The other actors did a Bond every two years (or one every year for Connery) Craig's run was dicked over by MGM's problems, creating a four year gap between Quantum and Skyfall. Connery was the youngest actor to play Bond aside from Lazenby.

Let's see..
Sean Connery - 6 Bonds from age 32 to 41. Then they dug up his corpse for Never say Never Again at 53
George 'wtf Australian!?' Lazenby - 30
Roger "Grandpa Bond" Moore - 7 movies Age 46-58
Timothy Dalton - 44-46
Brosnon - 4 movies 42-49
Craig - 3 movies 38-44

So figure 3 more movies and he'll be 50. Granted with his freakish physique he'll still be more believable as Bond at 50 than any of the others. And Skyfall already established that he's past his physical prime. It was good that they aged him because having a fresh rookie Bond starting at age 38 was a bit of a stretch, no matter how fit Craig was.

Also, Skyfall was called the best Bond because of the characters and performances, I think. Meaning that Bond, the villain, and even M had a lot more going for them story-wise than any of the other movies, and Craig is just so damn good in the role. It did all this without deviating from formula - it just added a lot more emotionally to the character, much like Casino Royale did.

A Bond who can't even shoot straight from the DT's is certainly fun.

Skyfall the best Bond movie? No way, it was too much of a 'greatest hits' movie to be considered the best. Also I still take issue with Bond somehow surviving a 100m fall into a river, there is just no way, it's like falling 100m onto concrete.

Eh, it's a Bond movie, in any other franchise yeah, but it's hard to be picky about little things like surviving 100m drops with all the other craziness that goes on.

Looooove this movie. LOVE.

I love all Bond (except Dalton) but I was overwhelmed at how intensely I adored the Daniel Craig reboot of the series. I think Solace is the weakest of them so far, but I could (and have) watched Casino Royale and Skyfall all daylong on repeat. It is amazing how lovely you can feel doing work at home with Daniel Craig's voice in the backround all day long. =D
